Lifetime fuel filter???
I just had my 60k service done on my '99 GSR, and the mechanic said 96+ integras have lifetime fuel filters that do not need replacing. Can anyone confirm this?? Thanks
i was told it was lifetime at the acura dealership a couple weeks ago, but really... how can a filter be lifetime? its job is to filter crap so eventually the crap will build up thus needing to be changed... im not sure why that is? i would change it anyways
i recently cut open my fuel filter with less than 30k miles on it and it was noticeably dirty and full of debreis.
i belive there is no such thing as lifetime fuel filters...........replace them as often as your service maintenance schedule recommends.

Japanese car dealerships have low quality techs....domestic car dealerships have better techs....and european car dealerships have the best techs. Why you ask? MONEY...more expensive car=more expensive maintenence=more money for tech.
I don't see any honda/acura techs pulling in over 60k a year like a mercedes benz tech can, and if you're a mercedes god you can pull in almost 200k a year (at Mercedes Benz of Beverly Hills!)

about the fuel filter, it should be located by your firewall. The thing cost about $17 from dealer and takes about 15min to replace. The lifetime filter thing is definitely stupid and the mechanic is probably a moron too.

That's the most opinionated response I've heard. Purely circumstantial.

It is in fact true that the fuel filter is made to last the vehicle's lifetime. This is true of Toyotas and other makes. The exception is if contamination is introduced into the system. Some dealerships perpetuate the myth that it should be replaced once a year or something just to make money. Don't take my word for it, (I'm sure most of you will just go with the most popular answer.) find out the facts for yourself.

Well you just answered your statement there. Except if contamintaion is introduced. The fuel tanks at the gas station are not clean, there is a ton of crap in them. While the pumps have filters on them crap still gets through and into your gas tank. As many have mentioned go buy a helms and read what it says.
I can't believe that someone is on a message board oriented towards performance and whining about spending less than $20 on a filter. It is a wear item that is meant to be replaced.

hahaha i can vouch for that one, a tow truck driver thought he knew exactly what was wrong with my car
turns out he was wrong. not suprisingly.
