Double Clutching????
I have recently heard some people talking about "double clutching". For example in the Fast and the Furious Vin Diesel says something about it and in the new RSX I heard that the guy double cluches but I didnt see anything different about it. If anyone knows how to do this or can give me advice on how to do it and if it is actually helpful when racing please post it. Thanks in advance.

THere was a thread on this a couple weeks ago when the movie first came out, i'll see if i can find it for u...and for future reference, u dont double clutch on an upshift!
Nope can't find it. Basically *** FEEL FREE TO CORRECT ME PEOPLE ***
Double clutching was something drivers did in the old days when there weren't any synchros in ur tranny so u had to DC to minimize wear on ur tranny, but people still double clutch today to preserve their synchros and basically its when ur involved in downshifting, say from 5th -3rd...if u just did clutch in, shift from 5th to third and let the clutch out the whole car jumps and there's a danger in bending valves and all this other crap...so what u want to do is make sure that everything is spinning at/near the same speed before letting the clutch out so you dont feel that violent jerk which can throw ur car off balance and all that other bad stuff...so here is what u would do..
going lets say 70 mph in 5th and u want to drop to 3rd.
Clutch in, shifter to neutral, clutch out
Blip (rev) the gas up to round...what, 6,500-7,000 rpms
as the revs are falling
clutch in, shift to third, clutch out, gas and go
if you do it quickly and correctly the car shouldn't jump at all and it should be a smooth transition from 5th to third. I actually learned how from previous posts on the forum, thanks guys. and if i made any mistakes, sorry i JUST learned
anyway hope this helps/helped

The only reason it is popular with the youngins is because vin diesel said it in the fast and furious. The cool part is that he said somebody was lame because they weren't doing it while drag racing! By the way I didn't think that DC was for rev matching I thought it was just to make it easier for the tranny to line up the lower gear?
You are correct sir. Heel and toe is for rev matching while braking for a turn Double clutching is for the lining up of the gears (basically a thing they did back in the day before the advent of the synchronized tranny)
Double clutching is done to let the synchros of the tranny live longer. And Rev-matching (heel and toe) for preventing the shock when you release the clutch.
