skunk2 camshaft
I put this question in the tech spot but it might be better here. I talked to skunk and they finally came out with a camshaft for the d16y8. It is a stage 1 cam. I asked them if they were coming out with a stage 2 and they said they would if the stage 1's sold well. I was wondering if anyone had used stage 1 and stage 2's on there DOHC and what kind of power difference there was? I'm not sure if i should get the stage 1 and the springs and retainers or wait for the stage 2?
Go ahead and get it. The Skunk2 stage 1 for the DOHC Vtecs is a pretty decent cam.
I'm sure you'll be happy with cam for the single slammer. If they release the Stage 2 for your D series, you'll be able to sell your previous one. Someone's always looking for some used cams.

I have had all three stages in my B-series.
The stage 1's where awesome cams. I would definitely give them a try. Cams are pretty easy to sell if they do release the stage 2's for your motor.

Ok so i'll get the stage ones. What do you think i could sell my stock camshaft, valvespring, retainers, and cam gear for? If i go with the sk2 camshaft should i buy their springs and retainers or should i but the crower springs and retainers? There is a 200 or so price difference if i buy the cheaper crower.

i read that springs and retainers are not needed with the stage 1. but it would certainly help. and im guessing the cam is just as expensive as the rest. about 700

Yeah the stage 1 doesnt need springs and retainers but i want to be able to change my redline to 8000 so i'll need them. The stage 1 camshaft costs about 300 from sk2 and their valve springs and retainers cost about 500 or 600. I was thinking to buy the stage 1 and then buy a set of crower valve springs and retainers because they are going for 300 for both.
