Default What's a '93 LX worth....wrecked?

My friend wrecked his '93 LX sedan last weekend. Single car accident and he's okay...ran it headfirst into a bank at about 25. Bodyshop says $3800 minimum (ouch) to get it back on the road. He doesn't want to deal with the insurance hassle (and rate increase), but he doesn't want to sell it to the local boneyard for $150 either.

So here's my question: What's it worth to keep the car and part it out? The car has 130K on it, strong motor with a smooth 5-speed. The interior's gray and pretty clean. What are the most common components that people on this board are looking for, and what are they worth?

We're in North Virginia, close to WVA and PA. Shipping big items would be a pain, but for the right $ I guess anything's possible. Ideas, anyone?

depends bro let us see pics of the car and we can tell you where to start at. Does the car start up at all. How bad is the damage ,is the chasis bent. Uhhhmmm try to shoping around you know and make sure they are legit dont get ripped. If the car coverage is paid in full just let insurance deal with it and how the **** you crash into a bank at 25 without avoidin it was he payin attention lose brake pressure what happened bro?

small, valuable, shippable stuff:

power window switches, ecu's, some interior trim pieces like an armrest, *****, etc. Uh...if it was an EX, there would be alot more stuff.

Too bad your friend is not in SoCal. There would be buyers for parts off that car. But then, at this point, the car IS junk. Worth more than $150. But not much more than $500-1100 in parts plus the time in yanking them off. Most of the valuable parts were the front-end parts. I imagine the airbag fired eh?

The airbag fired alright. He was on a strange road, foggy night, stop sign was missing from the intersection. Before he knew it, he was halfway thru the intersection with the bank dead ahead. The car still starts and drives. The radiator's shot and the unibody is bent back and up. The fenders were shoved into the doors a little, so the front doors have small wrinkles, the hood was bent and shoved back some too. So, motor's good, tranny's good, interior's clean and good. body's back half is good. I think it's worth it to keep it and part it out.
