acura vs. honda hardware
there aren't any acura dealerships around town, only honda, i'm doing a header install and i've read it's best to replace all the nuts and bolts(although that is not necessary), if i get the nuts and bolts at the honda dealer are they the same ones as those at acura dealerships?, are they as good?
i know the difference probably wouldn't matter even if there was one, but i'm just curious
thanx guys

its pretty much is up to the dealer whether they want to be an ******* sell it to your or not.. im positive its all the same ****... honda wont sell me a part... cus it wasnt "honda" and made me drive 20 min away for it... when in reality its the same ****....
just get the honda part numbers and they'll get it for you. They might not be able to help if you say I need a part for a Acura bla bla bla. But you give them the Honda part numbers they can punch it in the computer and get it. Its ALL HONDA PARTS so honda can get anything.
it's a waste of money to replace the bolts that can be reused, as long as they're not rounded off (spray liquid wrench on the bolts and let it soak for a few minutes before trying to remove them) you can still use them. Make sure to buy a can of anti-seize and apply it to the threads of the old bolts and studs when you put on the new header.

You need to use the long part numbers. Honda and Acura parts use their own short numbers, but the long part numbers are universal.
Of course, if none of the Honda's use any of the Acura parts, then the long part number won't cross over and it'll show up as nothing when they type it in.
Example: Gen3 Integra rear swaybar endlinks. No Honda uses that part, so it won't show up in their database.

Or just ask for a part that will work, but also works for Honda stuff. Just say I need the header nuts from a 99 Civic SI. I went there and got a B16 Throttle body gasket for my LS. If you just ask for a honda part, they could care less. And I've never had a clerk verify I actually owned a Honda !

that's what I do.
that's what I do.
I needed a new front hub last year and the Acura dealer did not have one in stock. He gave me the Honda part number and I got one from them for about $10 less than the Acura price. A lot of the parts interchange plus the Honda dealer is about 20 min closer to me.
yeah..i just by "00 SI" parts for my gsr
like valve cover gasket..cam seals..dist. o-ring seal.all those b series vtec parts are interchangble so just ask for the honda parts and save $$$ or call acura..then get the parts # then call honda and have them look it up...
