Default Chips in Gunmetal Rims? Help

I am getting ready to change the front tires on my R. I have heard that when the tires are changed that the wheel weights will chip the rim when removed. Has anyone else had this problem and if so is there a way to prevent this?

I've had this problem on all four of my stock rims. Have the dealer check if the paint comes off easily anywhere else on the rim. Also check if the paint is bubbling. I had all of my wheels replaced under warrantee and haven't had any problems since. Also, I had the new wheel weights put on the inside.

Oh and to answer your question. I've heard people cutting the wheel weight in half to remove it without taking off the paint.

Hey does Mugen make the MF10's in 17 inch wheels. I also have a black R and wondered what they would look like on the car could you post a pic of your car.

I also had my wheels replaced by the dealer too. Do you run your car through car washes with rails on each side of the car? If you do, don't tell them that. I have not had any problems with my new wheels either. They actually look like they have a different finish to them that might be a little more durable. Good luck!

Ahh.. The horror! No.. I don't bring mine through a car wash. I hand wash the car each time.

Sorry for the late reply...

The weights will chip the wheels...

This is how I removed my (and my roommate's) weights.
Using a Dremel.... Cut weight as shown...
