your lude is a 2.3 liter, the f20c is a 2.0 liter. torque depends on displacement.
also the h23 has a higher rod-stroke ratio, which yields higher torque numbers.

stock s2k's run anywhere from 13.8XX with a good driver to a 14.00 with an average driver.

but i wouldn't make the torque numbers a big deal...

torque makes you feel fast, hp makes you go fast

I think everyone, including myself could learn quite a bit from this article http://www.speedoptions.com/articles/3519/. It is seriously the best explanation I hav ever read regarding horsepower/torque and what it means. A lot of people are really confused.

I went to the track yesterday. And saw about 6 s2000's. One was silver and supercharged(saw under his hood before he raced). Well lets just say they all dissapointed. They ALL had launching problems. Looked like they were walking down the race way......We need to see some good drivers in this car. They were all middle age'd rich guys that could only run top end. The best time out of all of them was a 14.4.....and as high as 16.5.....wish there was another place I could watch someone actually use the ability of this car

The only similarities between these are that they are both RWD. Other than that, they are totally different. What exact things makes you say that the two cars are "not that much differnt?"

you want something that has torque and thats at the same price range as a S2k go get yourself a 03 Cobra Mustang (Rustang)....my friend sold his S/C'd S2k for a 03 cobra and hes taking it to a shop called Performance Associates and hes dropping 6k into the car for their "Viper Killer Package"....supposedly between 460-500@ the wheels running mid to high 11's

i have a 4th gen lude, and the S2000 is a very sweet car and some point I will have one or a NSX, but for now I'm stickin with for my trusty lude, but anyways, although the has nice HP numbers is problem at the strip is it's VERY long 1st gear. Since it is lacking of torque down low it make a 5000K launch to be able to do its thing. Great car though to drop into gear and hit the sweet spot and off you go. Far better than a WRX in this aspect. If you want the torque back with it I would SC it

Just gotta throw this in...the S2K with a good driver has ran a 13.66 stock (search and you will find the post with this in it). But this car is far from a 1/4 mile car. If I wanted a 1/4 mile car I would buy a 70 model nova and put a 383 stroker in it and run 11's all day for about $8000 or less total investment. I bought my S because I wanted the total package sports car.

having a 4 cylinder car N/A running 13.66 stock is just another perk of having an s2k. i never bought the s2k for drag racing, i like the fact thats its a well-rounded car. its quick, has excellent handling, excellent looks and honda reliability. i know some people are having problems with their s2k's, but this is to be expected from a high-strung sports car. if you look at other cars in the s2k category, the s2k has way less problems as you will notice.

Exactly...the reliabilty of the S is great considering the high strung nature of this engine. It is being pushed to it's limits (almost) from factory and most auto makers don't do that.

i disagree a little. i think torque does more than just make you fell like youre going fast. "people buy horsepower, but they drive torque." read that somewhere once.
