Default Basic Steel Rims Vs. GSR Rims

Other than looks obviously, what are the drawbacks of those steel rims with a hubcap.
I am pretty sure they are heavier but does anyone know by how much heavier they are Vs. the '01 GSR Rims?

14x5.5" black steelies were 17 lbs, if I remember correctly. I weighed mine before the snows were mounted and I remember them not being much more than 2 lbs over stock....

This is a really stupid question but bare with me...
Where can I get those steel rims? When you order new tires do they come with them? I wanna get new tires before the winter so I wanna replace my GSR Rims with them....

Try Tire Rack (www.tirerack.com) Indy, I believe that have packages for steel wheels/snow tires available, tho it might be a little early for them to advertise them.

Thanks I will take a look...
How hard is it for me to take my CRAPPY Michelin tires and just throw them onto a steel rim just for now? Do you need a machine to pry it loose and install it again?
Or can you do this by hand?

Yes, you can probably take them off and remount them yourself...takes a couple of prybars and someone to help. It's a pain in the *** though..might be easier to find a tire shop who'll do it for a couple of bucks per tire.

Call around to the junkyards if you need steelies. I found some for $30 each...the dealer wanted something like $80 each.

I paid $50.00 a piece for two of them at the Acura dealership. They were takeoff wheels. You know, when the RS or LS owner deceided they wanted a set of those snazzy wheels form the Accessories catelog. The new ones were $100. I got the other two from the Tire Rack for $26.00 each, but you can order packaged snow tires from them with with OE steel rims.

Are you sure you don't want to use your GSR wheels as winter wheels and get a new set for the summer months? I would have gone that route if I had a chance to do it over again.....

I have a set of 4 with 195/60QR14 Dunlop Grapsic DS1 and set of 94-95 RS/LS wheelcovers. Does anyone around be want them for $200? They were only used 4 months and the wheels have never been curbed and the tires have never been plugged.

No. Remember how fun it was putting in a new inner tube on your bike when you were a kid? Well, using a pry bar on an auto tire would be about a jillion times more difficult.

I've used a machine before, with all the right tools and it could be hard if you don't know what you're doing. I can't imagine going at it with a crowbar.

Oh I am positive these tires are a safety hazard!! I mean, they slip and slide in the rain!!!! I remmeber them in 1999 and luckily that winter wasnt too harsh. It barely snowed. Then I got rid of the car in 2000 and we had a TON of snow. So I dont know about this year but I wouldnt want to chance it.
I might be interested in your wheels though!!! And you LS hubcaps if you got em!! I dont remmember what LS hubcaps look like so if you got a pic somewhere that would be cool....

Those Michelin XGTV4s (?) were the $h!tty when they first came out in 1994 and were are still $h!tty on the last 2001 models. People complained and they still put them on year after year. I don't get why?

$200 was for both the wheels and covers, unshipped, buyer comes to pick them up. I'm not really into shipping them (read lazy and need to be bribed), but I'll call UPS and wrap everything up for and extra fifty bucks. Buyer pays shipping.

The covers are a 9 spoke design and American Honda used something almost identical on the more recent previous generation Civics, maybe '99-00?
