Default 98 Accord LX won't start

My friend's 98 accord lx won't start. When he turns the key, he gets a clicking sound out of the d/s of the engine bay. The engine doesn't turn at all. I'm gong to check it out tonight but I wanted to see if anyone know of possibilities off the info I'm giving before I head out there. He's got about 50k miles on the engine. He says the sound is definately coming from under the hood.

Anyone have any ideas please let me know.

I had the same problem with the same car. It turned out to be the battery which was one of those "no maintenance' types that was still showing a green indicator for "good"?
Perhaps it had a cracked internal plate in one of its cells. I hope it turns out to be as cut and dried a situation for you.

He said the radio and a/c stll work and he tried jumping it....I guess it could still be the battery. Thanks for your input. Anyone else?

Take the battery to a place that sells batteries, they can test it to see if it is still good or not.

If the battery is drained, but can hold a charge, it may be the alternator. But my bet is that the battery is bad.
