Default What is Corey's set-up?

I've been following Honda Challenge and I admire what Corey J. is doing in H2 class with his 93 Prelude VTEC. Does anyone know his set-up?

I think it's this:

AEM CAI, SMSP header, straight pipe, exhaust piping without muffler.

Suspension = Eibach Sportlines and KYB AGX shocks.

Am I right?

I highly doubt he has KYB AGX, he's used them in the past but not for his current setup. Also he does not have anything even close to the sportline. He has custom springs rated at 800 in the front and I think 1000 in the rear.

This is correct. He posted his spring rates on PO.com. Hes actually looking to increase his rear rates up to 1200!

I have Revalved Konis, shortend front shocks (more travel than OTS konis) I run 800fr springs, and 1000r.. Trying to track down a set of 1200lb springs for the rear, hard to find though.. I use NO front bar, which I love, and ST rear bar w/ stock brackets.. I just get a set of nuespeed brackets in today, so I am going to use them w/ the ST bar to see if that helps..

Also, I highly suggest using OPM Motorsport's spherical front subframe bearings, instead of bushings.. http://www.opmmotorsports.com Takes a lot of bind off the front end, caused by the subframe bushings pushing on the radius rods..

I only suggest running no front bar if you have really stiff front springs rates, 600+.

Saner bar is going to ordered next week, I guess the biggest they can make me, and still fit the neuspeed brackets.. I really need to get some more oversteer in the car..</TD></TR></TABLE>

I dont kow about this. You might have to ask Corey yourself. I do know that the amount of engine "building" you cna do in ECHC is extremely limited. If your interested enough, you can check out the rules here:

Bumping b/c I think corey is on, and I wanna know something.
Corey do you run stiffer rear springs to get the car to semi-drift in the rear, i.e. very controlled and slight drifted?

Well you want to run stiffer rear springs in a FWD car in almost all cases for road racing, unless you like understeer. On my GT4 Civic I don't even run a front sway bar. The car starts out very loose but then finishes with understeer.

Corey is running a junkyard special H22A4 with a lightened flywheel, AEM CAI, stock ECU (rules) and stock fuel pressure. Below is the last dyno of the car with my #3 prototype header (non coated mild steel and formed collectors), 2-1/2" tubing, 18" long resonator and a turn down in the tunnel. We hope to dyno the car again this weekend with the new stainless steel header with merge collectors.

Current set up is Run13, Run12 was of prototype header #2.

I honestly don't know how they get that power.

What Corey told me is that they bought the engine from a junk yard when his engine burned a valve. The engine runs extremly rich, 11.8:1 or worse from like 4500 up. With the new header and an fpr we should see 190 and hopefully some more mid range. H2 will be interesting this year. We'll be trying the new secondaries on Warren's header shortly, so I hope to see some gains there also.

Prelude vs ITR in H2.

Dave pretty much sumed up the motor part, which is very impressive for the limited mods we are allowed to use..

As for suspension, last year I did use skunk2 coilovers, w/ the stiffer springs in the rear and KYB AGX shocks, for the first part of the year, and won a couple races w/ the setup, it was cheap, and worked.. ST rear sway and loosened front endlinks as well..

This year (and part of last year) I am running revalved and shorter koni's, w/ 800lb front springs and 1000lb rear (will be up to 1200 as soon as I get some $ to order).. ST rear bar w/ neuspeed brackets, NO front swaybar, OPM subframe bushings, Specialty products camber kit in front and rear

I use Kosei K1 wheels, 15x7 and Toyo RA1 tires, which is kickass..

As for brakes, I use Cobalt spec VR pads in the front, and either the GT-Sports in the back, or the IT spec B pads in the rear.. Stock VTEC braking system, but the rotor dust shields are gone, and use Goodridge brake lines.. Also use Cobalt XRF fluid, which is the best on the market, IMO.. But they are out of stock, (can't find a container they like)

Nice setup & great hp with the minimal mods... That header must optimize the throughput/backpressure.

I have seen Cory's car in action at Summit Point race track in WV. I didn't know it had that few mods to it. He was moving FAST out there.

Sorry Cory, I have to say this. The car sounds horrible. So freakin LOUD!! LOL

Hope I can get to the track once this Summer
