vafc or safc
i'm considering buying either one, my question is should i buy the vafc just for vtec engagemnt? am i going to be able gain that much controlling the vtec engagment? i will be dyno tuning it so is it worth the extra money (both are used the vafc is about 50-75 bucks more)
oh and i found this when i searched, can anyone back this up?

V-AFC has twice as many fuel points as the S-AFC. How? It has points for high and low cam, along with high and low throttle.

Well as far as I know the stock VTEC engagement point on a 97+ Prelude is at 5600 and the secondaries open up at 4900 so 5100 VTEC engagement is really good. I'd say if you can utilize and if the change in VTEC engagement makes sense then do it otherwise get the SAFC.

i have a 4th gen (see username) and the vtec engages at/about 5000 so does any one know if i'll be able to gain any signicant amount of horsepower by adjusting the engagement. or if the vafc really has twice as many fuel points as the safc?

Vtec on a 5th gen starts at 5400 ( the 3 i've driven ) i dont know about a 4th gen, i am also pondering the thought the buy a v-afc, but is it all just set once its tuned.. or can the user change the settings like a booster controller... ie : can u switch the settings to run rich and vtec at 4k when your driving hard..and low/ 5.4k when your just commuting
you can tune it to WOT, so when you're at WOT the tuning "kicks in". i think its worth every dollar, but hondata and AEM EMS are also good choices. the more mods you have the more gains you get. just by changing the VTEC engagement point wont net you more horsepower, just vtec engages sooner. people w[ith 5th gengerations usually set it to about 4700. dyno tuning is the best wway to get the most out of your VAFC

well this is the last try to get a good answer before i buy either one. to clarify is there any advantage that the vafc has over the safc besides vtec engagement. i've been searching the web trying to get a definite answer but i still can't find it. i'll be buying one today so.... bump
I'd reccommend getting the vafc. It can do do all the things an safc can do but for 2 valve lift possitions instead of 1 AND change vtec crossover. I don't think a safc would even work a vtec engine since there are 2 different valve position settings you need to deal with and the safc only lets you work with one. IMO, the vafc is worth the extra dough. From what my dyno chart says I gained the most from changing the vtec x-over pt. Its set at 4200 on a 5th gen and there is NO dip in the power curve

In short - vafc is for vtec engines. safc is for everything else.
