Default I have an extra H23 intake manifold.

How much does porting and polishing cost???

Also, I have a Thermal Classic exhaust, Carsound highflow cat, DC Sport CC header, K&N airfilter, and I plan on getting a BB6 Type S intake box. These are probably the only mods I plan on doing to the car engine wise.

Is it worth the $$$ to have my intake manifold ported and polished based on the gains I will see??

Thanks

I was wondering about this too and asked a shop I had near me. They said I might get about 8hp to the wheels but it would be all high end. So I looked into other options. If you're willing to go all motor H23 bullfrog makes a head package that includes cams, P&P head, intake man. to match. and a new throttle body for about 1,200 and it will give you 58hp to the wheels. That's what I want to do but I'm going to get ahold of an H23 with fewer miles and do some other work to it before I get that head work done. Just a thought

Peace

all of you are wrong. You will only gain power if you paint the intake manifold yellow.

beware, customer service sucks....

Found a site with a dyno for a GSR and it gave 58hp.

Hey guys, I was inspecting the intake manifold and I was wondering what the purpose of the set of butterfly valves when you take the top of the IM off??

Are these referred to as the secondary intake runners?? If so, when do they open up?? Is it possible to keep these valves open all the time to increase power? Also, when do these valves open up?? Under wide open throttle??

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Yes those are the secondaries...I don't remember exactly when they open..I believe around 4800rpm. You can have them open all the time by disconnecting the vacuum line on the valve. there is a website with detailed instructions. i'll try and find it for you.

yep, secondaries. Your bottom end is supposed to suck w/o them, but someone on here's running w/o them and says he's fine; personally, I'd keep them.

the SAE car here at penn state uses the dual runners... but instead of combining the volume of both runners it's designed so a longer runner is used on the low end and a shorter (and IIRC bigger) runner is used on more of the top end. Nearly the same idea though

Ok, let me get this straight. So is the purpose of both intake runners to maintain proper air/fuel ratio?? Does the engine wait to open the secondaries when there is enough fuel being pushed to the engine??

The purpose of the duel intake runner is, Closed(Low end) open (topend)
The butterfly vavle is just makeing the intake manifold longer(closed) and shorter(open)..

When closed, the Longer intake runner makes more power down low, untill it cant flow no more air, then it poops out, the butterfly valve opens makeing a shorter Manifold, thus makeing more power where the longer intake runner ranout of breath. Its best of both short and long intake runners..
