Default Precision Turbo is at it again :D

Well, thanks very much to the guys over at Precision Turbo, and a huge thanks to Art (Arturbo).... they pulled one out of their back pockets, and delivered the turbo well ahead of time...

The turbo is a PT72, Q-trim turbo. Should work out rather well for the future goals of the car

This is the turbo sitting next a T3:

Can't really say too much about the setup, but it'll be going into this car:

before anyone asks, that manifold is not being used on this setup

Big thanks also to Earl for the PWR intercooler... its going to work awesome with this new setup

If i went with a more aggressive a/r exhaust housing, according to Precision, it would be good for about 800-830HP... i'm not looking for anywhere near that though of course, so i went with the smallest a/r housing available, and PT was nice enough to include their Shrouded compressor housing to help aid the turbo. As it sits, it should be good for about 600-700 i wouold imagine, but i'm not planning on running it up that hard. I'm a fan of high volume- low pressure, rather than high presure-low volume... It'll be aided by a healthy shot of n2o as well

I have a crx also (88hf) and your turbo build looks killer. Gotta let us know how it feels when it's done.

Why would you not use that manifold? Do you think its not good enough? Just to let you know that manifold has many advantages when properly modified....It will accept an 80mm TB and flows well when slightly ported. Also its cast, When on the Nitrous(which you said your gonna use) the manifold will take alot more abuse rather than splitting at the seams when you have a Nitrous backfire. (Nitrous backfires will occur on even the most perfectly tuned setup....just watch your intake temps and what fuel you use) I see your going to use a liquid IC from PWR....its a great piece....but when we use it with the bottle the intake temps go too low.....Just some info from someone with lots of nitrous experience and a datalogger on my dyno...

Hey Howard, what kind of air temps were you seeing with that ic off the nitrous?

Thanks for the info.... i wasn't referring to the intake manifold though, i was referring to the Turbo manifold. However, it is quite interesting what you are saying about the intake temps.... mind shooting over a screenshot of that graph from one of your passes, as well as a bit of info about how you had the water pump/tank system set up (like what pump, gph, what size tank, cooling media, etc). I may be bugging you again in the near future for some more info if you don't mind

Tony1: The intake temps are between 60-70 degrees at 25psi with the Nitrous...we havent dynod it above that yet....it has more than enough power at 25psi....

As far as the IC setup....the datalogger showed us at 57 degree water in the IC(not the tank) through the pulls. Our dyno setup has its own water feed which is very consistant. We dynod several different days when the air temp was 20 degrees different.....when on the bottle even on the hotter days the intake temp was no lower than 70 degrees....At the track our one run, the nitrous did not engage...ran it at 20 psi and the highest intake temp that was seen was 120....then on the bottle it was 65 to around the 1000 foot mark where I had to pull the shoot to gain control of the car....dont ask!
