Default Difference between F22 Vtech and Non-Vtech

A buddy of mine has a '97 Accord Non-Vtech. He wants to swap heads with an Accord Vtech.. how hard would the process be? Any fuel modifications? Swap out the ECUs? What about manifolds? How hard would it be if he has the head and the manifolds? Any help would be appreciated.

94Accord,
Hey man, thanks for that helpful response. I thank you for clearifying that a non-Vtec head has no Vtec technology. I was just going nuts trying to figure it out by myself. You definitely seem to be an ASSet to this board! I'm looking forward to any more wise(***) replies you might have.

uh, i never said that it wouldn't help, i guess you just ASSumed that. But the effort, time, money, it would cost just isn't worth it for the 15 or so hp difference. Might as well swap the whole motor w/ a H22 or turbo the non-vtec motor, like suggested above.

Hey man the F22 is an 2.2L SOHC. I had an 1992 Lude S and I got rid of it b/c the mods out there for it aint that great. As for your question I recommend there is really no vtec improvment for that engine. All that you really can do to that is is SPRAY and mill the heads and run Air Intake and Exhaust/headers. I didnt go that far with mine. I say to much $$$ outta my pocket for such an small motor and red lining at 6K kinda suked ***! So i sold it and got DOHC, and now I feel much confident and love the torque and response of my Peppy integra!

So I would recommend staying away from the F22 motor is you plan on moding.. Unless you really want to sped you pocket book in a BIG way!

Good Luck!

damn, yal can be some dicks.

yes there is potential in the f22, but it costs allot of money. a vtec head, if you got it to work properly would add some hp. but probably only by about 10. if you can get it to work and you get the parts cheap and sounds good to me, but it would be allot of work. you would need the vtec electronic components also, not just the head.

a fellow honda-tech member screamer7 has a built up f22 running 15's. it probably has cost him more than a h22 motor would, but it is definately possible to take a f22 into 15s and beyond. i've seen a 13 second built and turbo'd f22 on purehonda.
