crankshaft pulley price
hey just a real quick question..i have my 94 accord in the shop getting the timing belt replaced. i called them this morning to ask if it was finished, and as USUAL, just like every other car shop does, they said they recommended replacing a few other parts along with it. They said for one, when the timing belt got messed up, the crankshaft pulley was damaged. Now, i dont know too much about this stuff, but i know alot of times I dont trust mechanic shops, so i wanted to know if that sounded about right. Also if so, how much is this part (crankshaft pulley) gonna cost me? thanks for the help and advice.
so, did you break the beld driving 120 mph? I dont see how else the pulley might have been dammaged unless the belt got whipped around and beat it to death...
sounds like BS, but if you call them on it...they take a screw driver to a perfectly fine pully?? then you are screwed..
I wouldnt go back there
good luck.

i would bet they were prying on it to remove it and they messed it up in my opinion there is no way a rubber belt can damage a metal pully i would ask them to let you see where the damage is on it and if it looks like it is pryed on then make them buy you a new one because they pulled it of wrong
sure they messed it up, did you happen to know what it looked like before??
wonder if i got an extra out here?? not sure
i wouldnt let them get you one, id order my own or go to yard and get one cheap

Yea, I don't see how it could have damaged the crank pulley. Ask to see the plastic covering that covers the timing belt. If that is still in tact then for SURE they are lying because the belt would have had to shatter that plastic before it can even touch the crank pulley.
But if it IS damaged and you need to get another one, first check local junk yards...if not you can get a new one for $127 at http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com

thanks for all the replies. unfortunately, i needed my car for work, so i had to get it out before I got a chance to see alot of your replies, so I had already paid them to do the work. Sucks for me. I Hate taking my car to mechanics, but I only have one car, and i needed it for work, so i didn't have time to even attempt to do any of it myself when it broke down. Well, thanks for the tips anyway. it sucks, the whole thing cost me just under 600 bucks. It sucks that these shops can do whatever they want once they have your car. i have yet to finda reliable place to take my car.
