80k miles 98 accord tuneup tips
I was just wondering if anybody got any tips as to what kind of tuneup i should give it, i have not had a tuneup since I had it (except oil/air filters etc.) I think my timing belt keeps making a loud squealing noise any tips on how to reduce or eliminate this noise also. I would appreciate any tips, thanks
Oil, Oil filter, timing belt, plugs, wires, check tranny fluid, clutch (if its 5-speed) brakes, pads, rotors, tires, coolant, washer fluid.....umm...i think thats it....oh yea....and an air freshner

I bet he meant clutch hydraulic fluid...

I would certainly take a close look at the timing belt. I didn't do anything with mine and it broke at around 173K (didn't mess anything up fortunately). I had a shop fix it and it cost around $200 for my '85 Accord.

That's probably your alternator belt on start-up. A touch of WD-40 does wonders...apply sparingly to the running belt [like a teeny-tiny bit].

Yes, but I'd do that as a diagnosis, not as a fix. WD-40 deteriorates the belt, but it tells you just where the noise is coming from. It'll make the belt slippery, so you tighten it, and the [alternator, PS pump, AC comp... whatever] bearings wear out quicker.
If not, then the noise might really be coming from the timing belt. Then it's either the water pump bearings squeaking, or the smooth side of the belt squealing against the tensioner pulley. Either way, that means its time to change the timing belt NOW. Along with whatever is squeaking.
