Default S2k Tires. Where are you buying them?

I know fellow S2k drivers are running on tires that wear out like crazy and thus have looked into replacement tires quite frequently.
I'm sticking with my OEM rims and tires for another season and have begun the OEM tire hunt. (I think I'm above average.. 11k on OEM's, I hear is good ).
Best price I've found so far is $136 for the front, $152 in the rear from tirerack + shipping. Any other options out there?
Thanks in advance.

If you have a Discount Tire nearby check them out. I got a great deal on tires there...I'm running Nitto NT450's but I'm sure they have a good deal on S02's...maybe even better than tirerack. It's worth a look.

Discount tire will usually price match as well if you bring in the price from tire rack. I've had a couple of sets installed there and they've done well. Just watch them like a hawk when they drive your car. I usually ask them to put it on jacks instead of the lift; I've heard of front lips, etc being broken by lifts before.

Yeah tires are expensive..I'm running 18 inch rims so the price is even higher...my next set will include rears that are 265 35s that should be fun for the pocketbook lol

what sort of tread life?
my friend had some 18's (i'm sorry, i can't remember who the mfg was), but he laughing that his 18's last longer than his 16's. problem is the initial cost on the 18's is more than the 16's.

I've got 7000 miles on my tires and they are still in good shape...will probably last me 15K+ maybe even 18K if I take it easy

Tirerack is the cheapest I found after my blowout. They sponsor s2ki.com, so access them through there.

yeah...i have to talk to jim over there and figure out what to do.

Do most people replace all 4? I think my front tires still look "ok"...but the rears are pretty much shot. I don't know if I should replace all 4 nontheless, or just replace the rear. Also, I'm debating whether or not to go with the S03's.. so, that would make it S02's in the front S03's in the rear. I don't know if that's a wise combination either.

I've heard that people usually go through 2 sets of rears for every single set of fronts, so I wouldn't worry about doing that. As for combining SO2 and SO3, you may want to ask Jim about that one.

i'm sure you know about the difference between OEM SO2, normal SO2 and normal SO3, so i'm not gonna explain it. The only benefit i would see from SO3 is that, your tires might last longer and you get slightly better wet traction. But seriously would you push your S or anycar for that matter in the rain?? Either way, both of them are good, i'm acutally thinking about getting SO3 next time around for my teg.

yup..did some research on it... my thing is this... how much of a compromise am i losing in terms of traction between the S02 vs S03. It's not a daily driver, and unless I'm carving the backroads, I'm sure I'm pushing nowhere near the limits of adhesion.
Having said that, I also don't drive in the rain unless it's a mistake.
Longer tire life with the S03 is very appealing to me.... SIGNIFICANT loss of traction is not.
