Default degreased motor,...now i got a problem

so i degrease the motor 2 days ago,..right after i degreased the motor i had to run to walmart,...im cruising about 35 mph when all of a sudden my speedo goes down to zero...im like WTF???,...so then i hit a small pothole in the road and my speedo starts working again,...then periodically it goes back down to zero...most of the times i hit a bump it would start working again,...and sometimes without hitting a bump it starts working again,...oh and the speedo works fine everytime i turn the car off and then back on,..but 15 mins of driving and then it goes down to zero,...anyone ever encounter this problem?? any info would be appreciated,...TIA

VSS (vehicle speed sensors) go bad all the time on our precious Hondas. They're easy to jar loose and quite fragile. You should check and make sure that it's dry, unbroken and plugged all the way in before doing anything drastic, but I'd start putting some cash aside just in case. Don't think they're that expensive, but it never hurts to be prepared.

In degreasing your motor, did you get your speedo sensor wet? While going through a deep winter puddle many many years ago, I lost the use of my speedo sensor for a few days until it dried out. A couple of years after that, my speedo sensor died and the socket was corroded. So the sensor and plug was replaced.

This happened to me in my car, except when i hit the brakes everything turned off (radio, gauges etc.) Come to find out there was a loose ground in my fuse box + it was a little corroded. Tightened it up and everything started working fine again. No problems since.

I found the sensor online at $105. I don't know if this is the best price?
