Socal, smog and b16, Any one have a B16, in socal, how did you get past SMOG!
Hows it going, I have a 1990 DX, I will soon be getting a SI.
I plan on installing a complete B16 engine, USDM, Because I want to pass smog legally. I will be getting a complete engine, all the smog eqipment fomr the car it was removed from, and ecu
Has any one doen this in Southern California.
Please dont post if you have not, or if you think JDM is a better choice. I have no wish to play SMOG check tag or to be screwing around with the local laws regardless of wehat yo think.
I hate the police, but I also dont want any hassles when I get pulled over and have my car spot checked by a nosy pigglet, cop.

Here's what you'll need to do:
Make sure the engine is from a US car.
The engine has to be from the same year or new than your car.
You have to have all vacuum lines hooked up.
All smog equipment must be on the car and hooked up, this includes the charcoal canister in the engine bay.
As long as you have all this done and it passes the sniffer test you'll pass smog.

you also have to pass visual inspection and you get a big sticker to put on your car that's it's been through inspection...let me know how it goes as i'm tyring to do it for my 91 DX HB although i'm thinking of going with a more daily driver engine...the SOHC VTEC
Well all those steps that I listed are for the visual inspection. They won't make any difference in the emissions. The emissions is the easy part, the visual is the hard part.
