Default OT: New TSX as a beater?

I have a 4dr beater now but since company promotion, i need a better sedan and not good accompany customer with the R which not my daily driver anyway.
Have thoughts with TSX since I want one car stick and daily w/ auto.
I know is not same as JDM Accord EuroR? whats your opiniion?

I too am interested in this idea.

Not as a beater really, I have 2 more cars for beating but, as a comfortable daily/highway cruiser. I am interested.

The one reason I am more interested in the A4 more is for the sport shift since I don't want full time standard transmission.

Does the TSX come with a sport/select shift?

Graceful lines and a sculpted interior with leather-trimmed seats give the new 2004 Acura TSX sports sedan a fresh and inviting feel. Out on the road, its aggressive performance gives it a firm authority. The 200-hp i-VTEC™ engine sends torque to the 17-inch alloy wheels through either a short-throw 6-speed manual or a 5-speed Sequential SportShift™ automatic transmission. Handling is surgically precise, with 4-wheel independent double-wishbone suspension and variable-assist rack-and-pinion steering. As always, safety is a top priority, and the TSX is the first Acura to come with standard side-curtain air bags. With its generously appointed interior, the TSX offers a new standard of luxury that's sensible yet refined. But at heart, the TSX is a true sports sedan.

OK so it fits the bill as a good new company car then.

Now, just gotta go test drive it and scare the crap out of some poor random sales guy.

I think having a TSX as a beater is a very good idea, and having a 4cyl is not a bad idea, cause it's good in gas consuming matter. just my opinion.

I haven't driven one yet but from what I've read/seen I think it would be the perfect everyday car. Sporty and comfy

On the other hand, you have the ITR so do you really need another sporty car? I'd probably drive the TSX and a V6 Accord sedan.

Yeah, I think it is a great idea. Get the Euro R lip kit and you'd be stylin.

the TSX is a great car, i've driven them twice.. IMO it handles better than the RSX Type S stock for stock and the I-4 feels/sounds as refined as a V6.

I took one for a spin, it's very nice for a comfy yet sporty ride, very responsive... Moves pretty good with the 6MT too.

Japan car of the year. The TSX is pretty much unchanged from the Euro/JDM Accord. Good stuff.

SPiFF, who likes his 1999 Japan car of the year (IS300) very much. Sadly it comes off lease in 9 months. Time to get a TSX me thinks.

My friend ordered one, but then later on changed his mind and got the MDX instead. We test drove it a few times (AT). It's a pretty nice car. Sporty, but IMO not as fast as a RSX-S.

Very very very quiet interior and comfy ride. I was really surprised how quiet the interior is. I was expecting that the noise level would be similar to the RSX-S but no, it is MUCH quieter. Back seat is pretty small tho. Handling is good but nothing TOO impressive.

Honest opinion, in the current market, I would rather get the TL-S instead of the TSX. Next gen TL will be out later on this year so bargaining on the current TL could be very aggressive. My friend was offered ~$32K (out-the-door price) on the TL-S with navi, while the TSX with navi would be ~$33K. None of the dealers was willing to budge on the price of the TSX.

I didn't think TSX is that expensive from Acura's website price quote with Nav. around
2004 TSX - 5-Speed Automatic with Navigation System Starts at $28,490
2004 TSX - 6-Speed Manual with Navigation System Starts at $28,490???????

"Out-the-door" price includes all the add-on's, taxes, license and registration. That's the "final" price that the buyer pays to drive the car off the lot.

The cars are new, so the dealers can hold their ground. But Acura is going up against a bunch of V6/I6 RWD cars with an I4 FWD, prices will come down.

The more I see this car, the more I like it. Plus the 20 MPG (17 when I drive) of our IS is a little too much at times. Even here in GA with cheap gas.

Not even that. The dealer threw on the spoiler, trunk/floor mats and wheel locks. The whole aero package would jack the price up even more. Sales tax alone in my county is already 8.25% so that's over $2400.

I strongly suggest you to stop by the dealer and talk about the prices with them. Hope you got a good deal from the dealers in your area.

i wonder what our new TL's would look like, since it won't be the same as the JDM Inspire anymore...
