ok today my steering started "clicking" and rather quickly turned into scratching clunking type of noises.. then i turned the wheel a little and there was a delay before the wheels followed.

very uncomforting feeling.. loss of control...

power steering is fine..
jacked it up and driver side boot is ripped open on the tie rod..

i feel this may be causing it but am not experienced yet in steering components..

what can be done about this.. steering parts look pretty expensive..

both my boots are gone, i dont have that problem. But if urs are making a clicking when u turn then ya i tmight be time to fix those or just get some knew axels!! do u kno how long its been ripped for. Cuase mine has been for a couple months and so far steering is still ok. i think it might just be ur power steering , cause i dotn have power steering ( who needs it ) (me when iam not rolling haha)

 

i have just replaced my axels couple of months ago.. drive is plenty fine.. its the steering thats not well.. im sure of it... just not sure what i can do

 

You may need new inner and outer tie rods.

 

how hard is it to replace these?

would this cause the "loss of control in steering" effect?
my rack and pinion sounds like its ok from whats been said so far?

i took off the cover to the ps gearbox and there was rust and water.. so i guess thats my problem.. eroded gearbox... shieezle
