I'd say try contacting the township. Nothing to lose. I bent a couple of mine. Take em to a good repair shop and they'll be as good as new.

Same thing happened to my friend too and the city replaces his, he had volks too. You should probably contact them soon too so they dont ask why you waited so long or make excuses.

the city will pay for it, just make sure you take a picture of the pothole and show it to them. go get tires that has rim protectors.

damn, this thread just reminded me that I filed a claim with the state last november and never heard anything. I need to get back on them about it. My rim was bent and my tire shreaded. I did call the city and they made me file with the DOT of Florida and not just locally. But yes, you can definately get them to reimburse you even if its an aftermarket rim.

It is possible to get the city to replace aftermarket rims also. I've known of a few cases where aftermarket rims were damaged on bad roadways. Granted, one case here in town took a little convincing for the city, but the rim was repaired at the city's expense. Another person had a rim completely replaced.

Good luck

Is there anything like this for blown shocks from pot holes, or is it just for wheels?

it should be for anything the pothole damages. i know a old guy that fucked up his axle, cv joint...etc from a pothole and the city paid for it. just make sure you take pics of the pothole. at first they won't want to pay for it, they'll make excuses... you gotta be persistent and professional.

So where exactly is this fabled city where the municipality buys you new wheels after you f**k them up? Wherever this magical city is, it sure isn't the city that I live in...

Andrew

P.S. What if I curb a wheel parallel parking? I mean, the city put that curb there. They should be liable to fix that too, right?
