need input on manifold design/demand...
well, i was talking to my dad about some stuff and we were looking at a custom stainless manifold i have in my shop, it looks like a pretty good design i guess... but there are some things that could be better... and my dad said that if there was a big enough demand, like atleast 10-20 people, he could have his shop build the manifolds. (they are expert welders) if i did this i would probably sell them at an extrememly low price to help you guys out.. like $20-$50 more than cost.... or so...
so, what features do you look for in a manifold (turbo placement, wastegate placement, runner design) pretty much tell me what your ultimate manifold would be... and is there the demand?
i am pretty sure the manifolds would be about $300 but that is a guess (the higher the demand the lower the price, there is the potential of them being around $250)... if there are a few people that would be interested in purchasing them i could have the prototype built next week... then i would know exact figures on the price also....
here is a pic of the manifold i have, one of the main problems i see with it is how the wastegate flange is sticking straight out, would this hit the radiator?

that is just a manifold that i bought last year, i know that its kinda shabby, im just asking if that basic design is pretty good... not if that is a good looking manifold

You will not find a equal length manifold for that price anywhere.
I like it, but i think that it may put the turbo to close to the radiator.

i would pay $300 for one of these.
kooks style (i think, correct me if i am wrong)

pretzel style (dunno who gets credit for his one

another (spark manifold - built to last of course)

im interested. I want to get rid of my drag manifold.
Good looking out for the honda-tech community
Just look at all the other manifolds, look at specs, thickness, ect ect and use that as a guide to build yours.

I am sure you wouldn't have a hard time selling any of these, pending on your final design. Equal length is deffently the way to go. suggestion : try to make is so the wastagate doesn't come out in the front, move it over to the drivers side of the engine bay, incase some people want to keep there full face radiators.
i'd be more than happy to try out a prototype

thats kinda what im trying to do with this post because i dont really have the money to buy all of the top manifolds out there and since i live in idaho there arent any for me to base my design off of other than the one i have.... hehe, but i guess the only stuff i need to know is what is the most popular position for the turbo to be placed and where should the wastegate flange be placed... if anyone could make some measurments for me and then i could compare them to the manifold i have that would be awesome!!
well, i'll have my dad get me a quote on the cost to build the prototype or maybe a couple different ones... and i could send them to people at cost plus shipping...

ID_ten_T: The second manifold you posted is the superT manifold.
If you can make an equal length, stainless steel manifold that will let me bolt up a precision SC61 to a B20, use a 3" downpipe and keep airconditioning, i'd pay 300-350 for it.

What do you think of this wastegate placement... just coming up from the center or off of one of the runners.. would it clear the hood or not...
can somebody measure the two measurements the photos illistrate... what is an average measurement for them...

I c that everyone is willing to try one out, but who is willing to buy in? If you have any requests for something custom IM him and find out.
good luck

with this image, i think it would be better if you took a picture from the bottom of the manifold and asked for the distance from the cylinder head flange to the turbo flange. that way you can get an idea of where it sits in relation to the engine. then from that point you can fashion up a collector and some runners accordingly. another option would be to hit the junkyards and find a beat-up, non-functional engine to use to mock-up different designs. but that would, of course, involve a lot more time and effort. anyways, when you figure out what you are going to do, i would like to be kept in the loop because i would be interested in getting one of these manifolds. thanks and good luck.

sorry i wasnt more accurate with those pics, a measurement from the head flange to the turbo flange is what i was looking for... like he said
i think the plan at the moment is to build about 20 manifolds that resemble the one i have pics of, but with a different wastegate placement. then in a few weeks or so try to do a equal length that keeps a/c
