Hey guys, I need to check my CEL on my 97 hatch, and even got out the helms to see which harness to jump. There is a small blue harness in a green holder, but jumping that one does not make my cel light on my dash react...can someone please explain this to me on a 97 hatchy...how to check CEL codes, and yes I did search first! Thanks a ton guys!

maybe the wire you'r using to jump it is not conductive?

 

Do the following steps:
1. jump the connector with a short wire.
2. get your head out from under the glove box.
3. turn key to on position
4. watch the cel and count the flashes.
5. Use haynes manua or service manual to figure out what the number of flashes means.

If it doesn't flash there are no codes

 

i rigged up a really sexy toggle switch to my CEL jumper. makes checking codes and setting the ignition timing a snap. i put it out of the way in the glove box so no one can accidentally hit it.

 

How does that aide in settting the ignition timing...just curious?
