Default Shifting Problem....Not 5th gear grind.

I have a 98 base with 75,000 miles and when I try to shift from 1st to 2nd at redline its very hard to make the shift. A lot of the time its like I hit something blocking the shift. The weird thing is, is that during normal driving it shifts fine into all gears with no grindin or anything. I am not just learning to drive a stick or anything so I know how to shift and it used to shift into second very easily from any rpm. You guys have any ideas?

Hey man same thing happened to my lude. Turns out some pieces of my pressure plate had broken...it ended up punching a hole in my bell housing and i started leaking tranny oil. Luckly the hole in the housing was able to be welded back together...H22 Stock clutches suck that was my second one in two years....Right now im running a Exedy Organic Clutch and Fidanza Flywheel awesome setup....Id pull the tranny and have a look at your clutch...Have you ever replaced it? If not its probably a good idea to replace it. Easy

haha, same thing happened to my bros Maxima.

It was like there was an evil troll holding the bottom of the shifter when I was trying to race.

Turned out to be a broken spring from the the clutch disc though.

It did this to his Stillen (sp?) Flywheel before it got wedged for good between it and the disc.

Look closely and you can see how it destroyed the lining around the bolt holes. It dug in DEEP.

BTW, that's a Centerforce clutch

So you think this may be a clutch problem? It shifts perfectly under normal driving in every gear. It also still grabs pretty well. Its the stock clutch with 75,000 miles on it.

Mine did to...but eventually it will possible come apart and cause big problems....Only other thing I think it could be is the syncros...Like I said mine had the same symptoms yours did shifted well before like 7500 rpms anything past that and it just grinds.
