Default Tranny Gurus please help....not wanting to shift into 3rd,4th or 5th...B series

Setup:
GSR tranny ACT clutch and pressure plate.

Problem:
Tranny shifts through 1st and 2nd gear perfectly, when going to 3rd gear with a normal style shift (at any RPM) it will not go into gear. If I depress the clutch shift to neutral then release the clutch then depress the clutch again and rev match the tranny will shift into 3rd gear perfectly, no extra force or grinding or anything. The same scenario is true with the 4th gear shift also.

Questions:
#1. Is the rev matching the reason it is shifting at all (seems to be)?
#2. Why would 1st and 2nd shift good as new if it is a clutch problem?
#3. Is it the synchros?
#4. If #3 is possible does anyone know how much thats gonna set me back?

Thanks very much for any and all help, I am completely at a loss when it comes to transmission problems and this seems to be a pretty bad one

Ha, we're both in washington, and my reverse doesnt go in, whether i rev match or not. All other 5 gears work FINE.

I hope we both solve our problems soon, i had to take my tranny off tonight of my GSR

More info:

Tranny will shift the first couple times through all the gears when I start out in the morning or after the car has sat for several hours.

Tranny shifts fine when the car is running but not in motion.

Please help me out guys....I dont want to have to get another tranny if I dont have to.....

Do you hear any extra noise from the transmission?Like if you were to press the clutch pedal in at idle and than release it,is there much extra noise difference?

Most likely a syncrho problem though. They'll set you back a few hundred new from the dealership, plus install labor.About the same cost as another transmission..but youll have new synchros and know nothing else is wrong.

If you want to save on labor,I can give you a very in depth step by step walkthrough on the rebuild...you will need a hydraulic press to remove gears.

There is a slight noise difference when the clutch is depressed, but not very much of one.

The only thing I wonder about the synchros is wouldn't they always be messed up? I mean when I start out and the tranny shifts fine for the first couple shifts but then goes back to not wanting to shift, does this sound like a charataristic of failing synchros?

Thanks very much for the help

Make sure the slave cylinder is bled and that the clutch is disengaging all the way.
