Default RSX-S, so what...

Have been reading some posts about some ITR owners who seem to feel that their rides are now obsolete or are less of a machine because of the new Type S and perhaps the future RSX-R. To me, the current ITR models (97-01) will always be tight-*** rides and a symbol of Honda and import performance. F@%# the RSX-S, who cares if it may or is faster than an ITR. Even if it is, it's still ugly can't change that, inside and out, and for sure couldn't touch the ITR in all out handling. This hype over the RSX is like the hype over the SI coupe, don't hear anything about that car anymore. The regular Civic EX is a tighter ride than the SI I think. Even though the ITR is a far better car than a GSR, a nicely modded GSR is still something to be admired. In my opinion, the RSX is NOT better than the ITR, I doubt that this excitement over it will last. The Integra Type R is something special. Sorry if I tripped too hard on this subject but I love my ITR.

I agree. I think the ITR will be one of the few new cars you'll see 30 years from now on some classic car tv show.

Having gone from a big sweedish sedan to a GS-R sedan to a Type R, the RSX Type S looks way too comfy to be REALLY fun . I agree, the G3 ITR is a gem, and set alot of standards. I hope Honda has tons of success with the RSX, and i'm sure it's a fantastic car, but there's a reason I went out and grabbed a G3 ITR in the last year...

i give it to man....you can say what you want but to me, the redesigned integra is much nicer than the older style. but.....the ITR is faster than the rsx-s.

I test drove an RSX last night (hard) a couple of rambled thoughts:
Its is not that qwik, no edge, handles like every other new "sport" car
I really like the interior: seat back supportive, seat base flat, slid around on the leather to much, Ride heaight to high. Overall it was too "soft". I think if I were serious about a car like that I would pick up the CL Type-S instead.
I'm actually am first on the list to get a new Type-R if they ever come here.

One thing I noticed with my quick "look over" yesterday at the dealer...

The car has a cable shifter!!!

A test drive will enable me to make my final decision.

I highly doubt that there's a single ITR owner on this board that feels their car is inferior to a US spec RSX.

i don't want to ruffle any feathers around here but ITR owners should stop trippin'. i love the 3g integra (gsr/itr) as much as any other integ owner and i hate the new rsx with a passion, but come on you guys are comparing an itr to what is pretty much the new "gsr". after seven years of the gsr, is this the best honda can do. some will say the rsx could have been better. i hate to say it but the rsx-s is better than the gsr. rsx-s compared to the itr, maybe not. all i can say is, let's just wait and see how great the new type-r is...

I agree, I rode in the RSX Type-S 2 days ago and I must admit that it IS an improvement over the G3 GSR. But I don't understand why everyone is comparing the Type-S trim level to the G3 Type-R.

Type-S compromises very little in terms of comfort and luxury while the Type-R is purpose built for performance at the expense of comfort and luxury.

The RSX Type-S has potential but should be measured against the car that it replaces, the GSR, and NOT the Type-R

I can't really comment on how the RSX Type-R compares to our current G3 Type-R since I haven't driven it yet. Hopefully we'll get that oportunity after the Japanese play with it for a few years.

For the love of God... enough RSX-S topics.

The scenario is similar to what the U.S. market had w/ E36M3 w/ 240hp then, new 330is coming out. (New M3 is on a different league.) So what if RSX-S if about as good as an ITR... that's a progress and we should be thankful for. I can't wait to get my hands on a new RSX-typeR.

I think the DC2 ITR won't be rendered obsolete by the upcoming one. It might be a step behind but it's still quicker and better handling than a lot of cars out there. Kinda like the NSX, it'll be forever a classic. Hell, look at the Skyline series of cars, people still want the R32

Actually, the car the RSX replaces is the Prelude, and it should really be compared to that. Though it is civic based, like all previous Integras, the specs, handling, luxury etc... are more akin to a Lude.

I'm not crazy about the looks, and the ride height is unacceptable, but overall I think it's a very good car. I am impressed with the RSX-S, but you won't see me trading in my R anytime soon for one.

I wonder if the RSX can out handle a Mazda MP3.
