Default hard *** motor mounts

well, i'm sure anyone out there that has a b series swap (which includes a lot of people now) have maybe wanted mounts that dont vibrate as much. is there anyway to soften up the polyurethane mounts?

i have hasport mounts and they aren't that bad..
what can you expect.. your using 3 mounts

I drove my friend's grand prix gtp with poly mounts.. and it was annoying compared to my car.

EDIT: also.. if the vibration is only bad at idle... maybe set it a little higher to where the engine runs smoother.

In my humble opinion, HASport pounts are alot softer than place, but launching on place mounts is fun in its own respect.

I have a question for everyone. Do the SIRs in Canada vibrate like our cars do with the swaps in them? I would think they would have had a hard time selling a car that shook the crap out of people. I'm getting closer to doing my swap and I kinda have to think that maybe a set of Honda weld in mounts might be the way to go. Anybody have an opinion on this......

well the thing with SiR's is that the b16a is a stock engine..using stock mounts like we would have...Its not the engine that makes the rattling but the solid stiff mounts that are used. The whole purpose of the aftermarket mounts are to be super stiff and strong to hold a motor that otherwise wasn't supposed to be in our cars.

I ran with the HCP mounts which were great for fitment but loud as hell...it just took about 5 weeks for everything to settle..the biggest problem i ever encountered was just the noise..but i pinpointed each rattle and tightened down what was making noise or putting some silicone around it...

the whole point of these mounts is to be stiff, so the motor doesnt rock as much when launching and shifting. the vibration isnt that bad, mines a 14 year old car, you have to expect some squeaks and rattles. i also have ES poly bushings now. I love the way the car feels, but i guess i have more fun driving than listening to the cd player skip when shifting hard.

I know what you are saying but basically they are the same car. If an SIR can be built to be realiable and vibration free, than an American Civic should be able to be built using the same parts and be made to be the same way. I mean I'm assuming that they would have most likely been built in the same plant. At least that is my thinking.

i don't understand why you guys are comparing CDN civic's to US civic's they are botht he same, other than small difference's in trim level's that's all.
i have a Civic with a b16 swap, but that doesn't mean i have a cdn civic, it wasn't built in alliston, ontario. but yeah i have poly mounts, and they rattle like a biatch..
i get headache's and everything, but i'm somewhat use to it now.
as for softening it up, there's not much, like the person said above, we only have 3 mounts, compared to 4. and the actual SiR's the 99-00, they have a bigger bay. unless your considering the JDM SiR's than tha'ts a different story. cuz they have a different structure appearantly in the engine bay. but whom am i to say if they are different or not.

cut n' paste from hybrid site:
quote
As you can see above, the Si-R B16A driver's side mount is closer to the front of the car. It is also wider, and beefier than the U.S. mount. The B-series mount is designed for a stronger motor, and I suspect that Honda must have put it in that location for a reason.

The other differences are that the passenger side mount, and the front and rear cross members are different. You can import the crossmembers, but the driver's side and pasenger's side mounts would have to be removed and new fabricated mounts welded in. So, contrary to what you may have heard, there is currently NO WAY to mount a B-seies motor in the same location as the factory, without a bolt in mount kit or welding in new mounts.
end quote
There used to be a picture there clearly showing that the JDM SiR drivers' side mount is bigger and located differently.
