i'm having a real big problem putting the car into gear, not quite sure whats wrong but i do have a short shift kit installed
its been in there awhile, about a year

just started happening a couple days ago and its really bad right now

can't even put it into first

car is a 1991 integra
anybody have any ideas?

bad synchros I think.. do they grind but then aventually get in gear?

i just can't get it into gear

well, i can but its a total body workout to get it into gear

 

When was the last time you changed your transmission fluid?

 

about 6-8k ago
i haven't had much time

would that be the cause of the problem?

 

If it goes into gear easily when the engine is not running, and hard when it is, then the clutch is not releasing properly. If running or not does not make a difference, then it is probably the shifter. Synchros are to match gear speeds when moving and will not make it hard to shift into gear when stationary. Is it only first gear, what about reverse? What about trying to put it into 2-5?

If I remember right, most short shifters extend the shifter lower past the pivot point than the stock shifter. Could it be hitting or binding on the heat shield above the exhaust? I would definately check all the links and pivot points to make sure something is not falling apart. A pin or link may be coming out and making it bind. Find out before it falls all the way out and you are stuck in whatever gear your are in then.

could be a bad slave cylinder - check the clutch fluid reservoir, how's the clutch pedal feel?

could be a clutch spring that's come loose

 

i am going to get it checked out either tommorow or sunday

clutch goes in fine

have problems getting it into gear when engine is on and off
yes it is also every gear

i have a feeling its the slave cylinder

well, finally got to take a look and it seems my clutch is on its last life
damn cable tranny!

it's just my luck that i was going to replace my clutch next week, and it dies this week (when i have finals)
