How do I get my friggin tail light fixtures out!?!
Ok, correct me if Im wrong, but there are 6 bolts (5th gen...) sticking out into trunk that hold the fixtures in place... When you remove the nuts the lights slide out right... ok just makin sure...
That wouldnt be a problem, but I cant get 2 of the nuts off, they feel like they are welded on compared to the others(which came out quite easily, hmmm posibility of ******* with "Hey! lets unnecesarily loc-tight stuff" syndrome)...
I have used 8mm and 5/16 sockets and wrenches and only succeded in stripping the nuts a little...
Any wrench-heads got some tricks for getting stuck and stripped nuts out???
Thanks all,
Travis.

OK... instead of reading this and leaving... or asking a meaningless question that really doesnt help me... POST SOMETHING... lol, thanx.
try using a plier to take the 2 nuts off. if you can't take those nuts off, your not mechanically inclined to perform the task.
ok... if you read the damn post... u would find out that all I do when i try is strip them
so is there any other way to get them of other than grab a set of pliers and put a death grip on the damn things and **** the nuts up to get em off...

The bolts are actually part of the tail light assembly, cutting them off would mean he would have to get a new one.

yeah... i got pissed and went out in my garage and ******* grabbed the damn thing with a pair of big pliers... and stripped the nut more...

u can always cut the stripped nut off and replace it with a new one when u put it back on if it is that hard to get off. just be careful not to cut the bolt that is attached to the tail lights so u son't have to buy new ones.
How do you suggest I cut the nut off without messing up the bolt threads?
I might just cut the bolt off... there will still be 5 more holding the light in place... I think removing one wont hurt...

robo grip is that wierd vice grip thingy craftsman came out with....... bob villa was on tv tryin to sell them...... dunno, go to sears i guess....... hope cutting the bolts is a last resort
Yeah, i would try vice grips... get them as tight as possible and see if it'll grip it good enough.
I know they make special bits for removing stripped screws... i'm thinking they also make special sockets to remove stripped nuts, but i could be wrong.

just out of curiousity, are you taking the tail lights out so you can install aftermarket ones, Drum_Guru?
I was thinking of doing that too, but i haven't looked to see how many bolts there really are and how tight they are on.

I hear those aftermarket tail lights add 50 horse power to the wheels. Im going with the big wing mod first though, that will add 100 to the wheels then i will be able to take vettes for sure.
