Default SEMI OT: Best place for alarm installation in nyc/nj area for my ITR

I recently purchased my R and would like to install an alarm system that is professionaly installed. And by this I mean:
- all wires are soldered
- alarm is well hidden (not under seats or next to steering column)
- wires are undistinguishable from OE wires
- 3 point kill system (ignition, starter, fuel)

Can anybody in the NY/NJ/PA area recommend such a place. I ask here in the ITR forum since I believe almost everybody in the ITR forum is very protective of their cars and has gone through this situation before me.

How good are either of these two shops that has been recommened? As far as I see it, I don't trust any shop especially a shop that will (in the future) know how my security is set up. That just gives them the chance to come to my house and have a field day.

Have either of you had your alarms installed there? If you look under the dash, can you even tell you have an alarm?

Thanks in advance...

Don't know much about alarms but the guys there don't need to steal cars and my car is still outside. Knock on wood

NewYorkTypeR - If you're not uncomfortable with it, would you mind telling me what brand alarm you have and how much did it eat into your wallet. You wouldn't happen to know if they are an authorized dealer/installer for DEI products (specifically Clifford)?

b18b98 - Thanks, I'll have to check them out too.

don't take this the wrong way... but why are you looking for a good shop to do an install... in my opinion none of them do anywhere near a good enough job for my standards... i just have been working on ALEPH's car and it drives me crazy to see what they did. done by a "reputable shop". FAWK THAT!!!!!!!

I installed my alarm about 3 years ago now, it took me just about a 3 day weekend... but i dare you to find the wires easily. I've had some problems(all were my stupid fault), but i always know where to go to solve them, my own ******* install book.

D - I definately agree with you. I don't trust any shop touching my car. I've learned this through past experiences where I ended up re-doing everything myself. But there are two things I have come to hate, playing with numerous wires and re-installing front stock springs on stock shocks. That's why I'm asking for advice from customers of shops rather than trusting the word of any shop.

I had to re-extend the wiring on my Clifford alarm in last car and it was I had to solder nearly 40+ wires and I would have no idea where to begin on how to connect the thing. Uhm.....what alarms actually come with installation instructions? And I'm a helpless when it comes to wiring and relays. I only know how to solder

Smurfette:

uh, what the hell do front stock springs and stock shocks have to do with alarms?????

and yeah, i absolutly hate wiring **** under my dash. ask me about the cruise control i just installed. serioiusly though, all alarms come with instructions, ALL OF THEM. usually, all the relays are pre-wired, and color coodinated. you may have to add a relay here or there for some of the circuits to work properly, but it's not really a big deal.

can you read directions, think and devote some time to the project? (and leave lower dash of your car removed for a while) if so, i would think about doing it yourself if i was you.

Blah! Its Smurf!

Re-installing front shocks onto stock shocks and wiring are just two things I hate.

Okay, I'll ask. What about the cruise control you just installed.

Can I read directions? I passed kingergarten, so I think I'm qualified.

okay, thanks everybody.
