This is a TRS harness I am about to buy. The dude I'm buying it from said it was produced in 2000 and that he was using it with a c-pillar bar. My question is will these shoulder straps work with my autopower roll bar for my dc2?? As you can see he was using clips. My other question is how long can I legally use this harness on the track until?
here is the pics of the shoulder strap
from the looks of it, I can just remove the clip and wrap the shoulder belts around my bar, but I am unsure. I know you guys can help me.

Thanks in advance

Another thing, I just realized that if he had it on his c-pillar then the shoulder straps must be extra long. Will there be a problem if I have a harness with shoulder straps that are too long? Of course I will be shortening the length using the silver sliding clip, but is there anything else I might not be thinking about?
Thanks for the help, just trying to stay safe.
Also wondering how Total Restrain Systems harnesses compare in quality to Sabelt, Sparco and other types of harnesses.

1. Looks from the pic like you can just unloop those mounts and install them on your bar.
2. Quality - never heard of TRS. But if there's an SFI label on them then they're SFI approved. That's certainly a good start.

IIRC TRS bought out Sabelt sometime in the late '80s or early '90s - we had their harnesses in the rally car for a while and they were OK. Karl is right on. You want to duplicate the threading of the harness ends but have your harness bar in the place currently occupied by the snap-in end. Do ONE first, so you have the other as a guide, instead of unwrapping both of them. It is critical that you loop the web through the three-bar slide exactly as they came from the factory. Do note that SCCA has instituted an age cut-off for harnesses that will likely be a problem for you pretty quickly (if you care).

I think I might hesitate to buy a piece of used safety equipment. You have no knowledge of what it's been through, what chemicals might have been spilled on it, etc. A new set can't cost that much more.

Bingo! You stole my post before I could write it.
Are you aware that a harness is no good if it has been involved in an accident? 5 Point harnesses stretch by design under a heavy load to lessen the impact on your body. They don't stretch back again. I hope you know this person you are getting it from well enough that you are willing to risk your life over this...

Currently 5 years is the standard - however, apparently SCCA is considering a two-year expiration.

there is an article in the current Sportcar that talks about belt dates. After this past weekend I'm going fresh every two years! It's much cheaper then medical bills...

Ewwwww! That is one way to keep other people from driving your car.

Why did you buy used safety equipment? Read the post about rollover virginity and then rethink your purchase.

TRS "Total Restraint Systems" is an British company formed by a gentleman who used to work for Willians (another European harness company). TruChoice Motorsports is a lUS distributor in the Midwest, among others. I've seen these belts on many newer race cars including TC Klein's machines, and some SpeedVision (er...uh SpeedChannel) cars. I have a set in my ITR and like them very much. Each belt is marked with it's expiration date (marked out 7 years from the manufacture date (keep in mind SCCA goes by 5 year increments).

"jdmspoonitr" You can order the parts you need to make these belts fit your Autopower roll bar from TrueChoice. It shouldn't be a problem at all to get these set up. I have the same bar in my car. If I get a chance (and some sunny weather) I take some pics of my set-up this weekend.

Ok so here is the deal. The person selling used these for 5 autocrosses and that's it. No accidents, no chemical spillage. The only thing is that they are a little old being produced in 2000. So should I avoid a perfectly good and usable harness just because it is too good of a deal??? I mean I understand all of your guys logic, but the harness can't be that much more worse for wear than a completely new one. So is it the low price that is bothering everyone?? Or the fact that I might not know what exactly happened to this harness?
On a side note, racerwholesale has 5 point cam lock G-Forces for a pretty good deal new. Since these are cheap, does that really mean anything? They are FIA approved, so the cheapness factor really shouldn't matter right?
