Finally... receive my first couple mods for my Evolution.
Just came in today. 3" dp and test pipe. An HKS Hyper exhaust is next on the list and hopefully a filter. Either a drop in or a cone. My sole intent on the Evo will be almost identical concept as my old turbo teg. Run reliably on a road course all day long and see the drag strip on not so often occasion. Will post dyno result in 2 weeks and a video again from Thunderhill Raceway in 4 weeks for some road course fun.

Quality on that sucker looks great! Alot of bends though. It would be better if the Mitsu guys made a cleaner exhaust route. Kudo's to you and your ride though.

I'm sure space is a concern when utalizing an awd platform.

Oh yah. The reason for the bend on the dp is to clear the center diff and front lower tie bars. The catback should compromise and hoping to get more power from that.
In case you're wondering who makes the dp, it came from Ultimate Racing from Canada. I was going to get the HKS dp but it cost more and a 3" wasn't available.
Sux about living in cali is that I can only get 91octane at the pump.
On 93octane, the Evo will respond even better.

I get 94 octane at the pump, currently priced at $1.49 a gallon. At 24mpg beating the **** out of my car its very efficient speed/cost ratio. You wouldn't believe the difference from regullar 93 octane offered around here and sunoco 94. THe knock goes down and the timing jumps. Turbo mitsubishis have always been VERY sensitive with respect to knock and its effect on ignition timing. I'd suggest 2 gallons of toulene, with 2 oz of 2 cycle motor oil mixed into each gallon to keep your fuel pump lubricated. On 10 gallons of 91 octane that'll bump you somewhere around 98-101 octane.

Oh wow! Dan... I envy you for the gas. I've heard good things on the Evo especially on 94octane Sunoco gas.. and your right about the whole mitsu ordeal. It sure does affect performance when it's beaten on low octane and there's a significant change to it.
I can get 100octane unleaded racing gas but for 5 gallon at a little over $30 bucks.... that's just something I'm not willing to pay on everyday basis. Pretty crazy.

222awhp & 246lb/ft. tq with dp and straight pipe on 91 octane. The a/f falls off on it's face just before 5500 rpm.

You'll see a large gain when you replace the cat back or even the muffler. I've heard that the cat is a high flow unit and is less restrictive than the 2 stage muffler that the car has. Pruven performance got 25awhp by just removing the muffler. The baseline was 226 awhp and it was 251awhp after removing the muffler.

Would you really want to put the oil in there, since it promotes detonation? I think that would negate a good portion of the benefit of the toluene.
Anyway, there's no sunoco (that I know of) out here in portland, but one of my friend's with a Galant VR4 did some data-logging with various brands of gas and found that 76 produced the least amount of knock, compared to some others...
