What stage are you running exactly juicedh22? I thought you didn't have to upgrade your valvetrain for just the stage 1s.

I am also interested in the gains with just skunk2 stage 1 cams. I know with the b series the stage 1s are great cams for stock compression motors, so I'm wondering if this is the same with the h22s. I like the stage ones cuz you don't have to upgrade your valvetrain, if they make decent power though.

mine are stage 1, i upgraded the rest, because I will eventually need it anyways, the head is fully built now with the addition of ferrea valves. If you're smart you will just do all intended headwork at once....then you dont have to tear it apart multiple times.... if your planning on just doing the cams, then i def. recommend the skunk2 as a good option.

If anyone is interested I have a pair brand new. I'm going a different route with the motor. A friend really wants them local, but I've just been holding on to them and they are collecting dust, because he hasn't been able to come up with the cash. If interested pm or email me at jeff33s@***.net

I really wanted to put them in my car, but that would make them used I only have opened the box once since I got them.

Imagine what would happen if they would have stuck with VVTELC. Everyone would really screw it up then For pity sake people you represent us, at least get your acronyms right.

I haven't done cams yet on my H22A yet but the Skunk2 stage 1 was really looking like wut I wanted, until I found out about Arie's car from Dynamic Autosports in LakeForest, CA. He dyno'd my LS with JG 202 cams to 140 to the wheels and 128 lbs of torque, but I was pulling away from my buddy's 156hp GSR because my power band was so much fatter. As a matter of fact, I've raced like 15 GSR's afterwards and never lost. I even kept up with 4th Gen Prelude VTEC w/I/H/E. Anyways... Aries is running all motor H22A with the JDM Type-S cams and stomp'n out 235 to the wheels. WOW! My point is, when he tuned my car, he knew exactly wut he was doin, and I know he went with the Type-S cams because its reliable as hell. Oh and his 4th gen's been his daily driver for years.

Yes it is a street car. He drives it everyday. His name is Aries Dizon, look it up under Google search engine. You'll probably see people praising his tuning techniques. He's the resident dyno tuner for Dynamic Autosports, you know, the place where the magazines go to test their project cars. Like a lot of the Import Tuner Magazine's Power Pages vehicles are tested there. See, he's doesn't give a f**k about peak hp that everyone talks about. He tunes it to win. Like who cares if the LS/VTEC pulls 220hp to the wheels if it spikes only at the last couple thousand rpms. Thats why we drive preludes right? We want power and torque everywhere on the tach.

This might be a little off topic, but how do the Type S cams compare to the Skunk2 stage 1 cams?

If I'm reading this right, the Stage 1 cams netted you 22 whp?!? Was that before or after tuning? Damn, makes me wonder what the Stage 2's would do... Also, if you don't mind me asking, what else besides port & polish did you have done to hit 200?

Type S suck, they are below crower st 1 which are below skunk st 1.....235 whp with type s cams is bs.....Ive seen 11.5 CR with st 3 cams barely pushing 220 whp.....i dont believe that for a second.....

NXLude, I agree, it sounded like bs to me too but its the truth. Ask anyone in the industry in Southern California. All the top racers and manufacturers know him or have heard of him as "Dynamic Autosports' DynoMan" His car was in one of the major import mags early this year. It was either Import Tuner, SCC, or Turbo. I also agree that the Type-S cams are not the highest hp gainers but its a great way to gain extra 7-12hp without reliability issues. And I'm sure Aries can make even more than his N/A 235hp at the wheels with lets say a set of Skunk2's or JUN's but like I said before... his Prelude is his daily driver and he's been his daily driver for years. If you're ever in town for an event, go to Dynamic, you'll probably see it in the parking lot.

I think he's pushing out max 235hp just for the dyno then he leans it out to get his good gas mileage.

I'd like to see the dyno chart. 235hp at the flywheel I can see being attainable.....
....but 235hp at the wheel with type-S cams ???

BTW, I remember some article in a mag about his car not to long ago. I don't remember the exact wording of his hp claim. Was it to the wheel or at the wheel ???

So this guy at Dynamic, does he do all of their tuning? I am currently looking for the best place to take my car to be tuned once i get the head P&P, with probaby some skunk2 stage II's. (Valvetrain also of course) I was wondering whether or not the stage I's would even make much of a difference.

Anyone have the number of Dynamic? I need to check into this.

Thanks

Dude... you're in Oregon? Hope you know that Dynamic Autosports (949) 457-1234 is in Southern California. http://www.dynamicautosports.com I heard from my buddies Frank and Charlie that work there that Aries recently left but there's another guy thats supposedly just as good or better. Oh yeah, plus their older DOS based dyno is more conservative in hp rating than most other dynos in the area. Good luck w/your tuning and let us know what you pulled.
