most manual tranny equipped cars are about .5 to .8 seconds faster than the automatic versions.

whether or not it's worth it is up to you. On a brand new car, probably not. On, say, my friends 95 Nissan 240SX automatic...yes, a RWD SR20DET with a manual tranny is quite worth it.

It will be a noticable improvement going from auto to manual... With a manual you can put the power down and take off faster. Also with the better gearing comes less weight. It all adds up to a good thing. $1,200 isn't too bad I think. I did the conversion on my '90 GS myself and it cost just over $750. This was the minimal conversion though - I'm still running with the auto ECU, Intake manifold, and emissions equipment. Let us know how it goes.

From what I've seen, a stock 5-spd LS can get into the high 15s, while autos, mid to high 16s with a good driver; There cab be as much as a 1 second difference. $1200 is a pretty good price for a tranny swap. Just be sure to pick and choose your shop carefully. I'd hate to see you end up with more problems than you had before the swap.

hey, one of my friend ran 15.3 on a 95 ls w/ i/h/e and short shifter. id say getting a auto to maunal swap is defintitly worth it. plus, the price seems to be really good too. my other friend was quoted 2700 for an auto to maunal conversion!!

If a swap is better than trading in for a GSR, figure out whether you're going to go NA or FI and pick your manual based on that. LS for FI or GSR, Type R, or B16A for NA
