auto to manual conversion?
Would it be worth it to to an auto to manual conversion in my friends 4th gen? About how much would he end up paying to do this. His car is not that fast and he wants it to be a manual to help it out a little. What all would have to be done? Thanks for all the help.
no it would not be worth it. It would be cheaper and easier to sell his car and get a manual. the cost would so not be worth it. He could do a vtec swap instead, which would make it faster than just the 5-spd tranny anyway.
oh yeah and try a search, this has been covered before with the same answer

Ya, I have done a few of these. Trust me in the long run it is not worth it. I commented more on this the first time that it came up.
Hell yeah it's worth it. I did mine for 1200 with an aftermarket clutch. The advantage of doing the swap as compared to just selling it and getting a 5-spd is that you know the service records of your car and know how it has been treated. A new-to-you prelude, unless buying from a friend, has an unknown driving history. Yeah you have records that it's been in for the services but you'll never know how it was treated. In my case I already had 5,000+ in the car so I'd loose a heck of a lot in getting a 5spd. I was even trying to have both the cars for 2 days so I could transfer the parts, but didn't have enough $. If you want to do it or want to go more in depth and talk to others that have had it done let me know at mm159411@sju.edu
