how can i tell a jdm r
im getting ready to buy a jdm type r motor and i havent seen it yet, but i wanted to know if there are a few ways that i can tell its a jdm type r, my usdm r has LSD stamped in black on the tranny, does the jdm r have the same stamp... i know the code is b18c like the gsr... i know the intakes are diffrnet obviously, and the red cover has a h on it. but he said there is a vin plate.. i didnt think japan used vin plates... if they do is there a way i can use that to tell?
JDM GSR and Type R are both stamped b18C.
Type R has a PR3 stamp on the head, GSR is P72.
Type R intake manifold has straight runners, GSR has snail looking intake manifold
98+ Type R has JDM 4-1 header.
The Type R should have LSD stamped on the tranny. Also check for green paint on the top of the head right by the distributor.
