Correct me if I'm wrong but the fmu is so you dont have to upgrade your fuel pump? or do you need the fmu and the better fuel pump? Thanks

The FMU adds fuel when boosted by raising the fuel pressure. It's so you don't have to upgrade your fuel injectors and have a standalone engine managment system. I believe many people use it with the stock fuel pump...
I use walbro in my setup too(255)..just to give me some insurance..
I use B&M FPR to lean it out.
yes, boosting without standalone is tough..

so can you have stock injectors and stock fuel pump w/ an fmu and still boost about 14psi? sorry I should probably start another thread concerning the stock boosting potential. thanks..
also the 12:1 and 8:1 just means you have 12,8 more pounds of fuel per 1lb of boost?

12:1 is better than 8 or 10 since you can lean it out with FPR
I am sure you want to do more research before boosting..
good luck.

I bought the book "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell and that explained everything, even the fmu functions, but it doesn’t talk about EFI modifications and other things as they apply to Honda's, obviously it's not a Honda Turbo book. Otherwise it was great on how turbo's work.
So now I am stuck behind a budget and little lack of knowledge. Thanks for your help, if you don’t sell your fmu now I'll buy it when I put all my stuff together.

My end goal is 235 hp. With whatever it takes to get there the most inexpensive way. I want to do all the work myself and learn how everything works. I've decided on a t3/to3e turbo and now I'm trying to figure out the small things (also most important). The book has explained all the physics and chemistry involved, so I'm going the junkyard route to say I truely build the system and designed it myself, and to beat those evil turbocharged mitso's. This summer I plan to begin putting everything together. For right now its just reading, reading, reading, and saving.

you better get a T3T04..ex. wastegate.
2.5-3 inch piping turbo back, forget about the cat.
stanalone(hondata), obd1, 5speed, intercooled.
prolly nothing less than 10 psi will push that much.
stock internal?
what car you have?

Sorry t3/t04e is what I meant, I’m debating on internal wastegate because the manifold I will get will be from a DSM and wont have an opening for an external wastegate. Stock internals on the f22a1, I also plan to build up an f22b1 and when that’s finished swap it for the f22a1 and boost it. On the f22a1 I probably won't run any more than 12 psi. I have a 5 spd manual and obd1 (I think). Definitely an intercooler as far as size, brand, and mounting I have yet to research. The hondata I am not sure about I really want a more adjustable way and less expensive like an afc hack, not sure if there’s another way. Your input??
The car is a 93' Honda Accord LX with 193,400 mi. Excellent shape only 1 owner, before me, and I know him personally. It’s a 4 door.

DO NOT CHEAP OUT ON TUNNING ****>>>
Get the hondata or AEM EMS. it's worth each and every penny.
vafc will lean out the curve but it wouldnt do much..you make alot more power
and much safer boost with standalone.
plus all the extra function to tune you car according to your need.
alot of people selling vafc for standalone..greddy emanage, hondata, ems
stick with external wg..

OK so Hondata only works w/ civic and integra ecu's what do you need to do to fit the new ecu in?? Do you just go buy a civ/teg ecu from the junkyard and then take the ecu to Hondata and tell them what you want and what you have in your car. then they program it and before your start your new turbocharged car you put the new ecu in and it already has preloaded maps?? Not sure on the tuning. The help is greatly appreciated.
whats the manifold cost that has a place for the external wastegate??
