Cam Cover Studs
I was replacing my timing belt recently(thanks for all the help) snd in the process have created a new problem. When I removed the cam cover the driver side front bolt just spun on both ways and I had to cut it off, then when I was loosening the inner driver side front bolt it just snapped off, and its not because I have super human strength. So, my question is how bad is it to not have these on and how easy will it be for me to replace these if at all. Thanks in advance
A lot of people with adjustable cam gears run without the upper timing belt cover. There is a risk involved but it is pretty small. The only incident where debris has fallen in and caused problems that i've seen is on c-speedracing.com . As for extracting the broken stud, you could try some jb weld and somehow keep to bolt in place while it cures. Otherwise you prolly will need to use a bolt extractor. You can find a craftsman set at sears.
