Default how big are the benifits of swapping out my h23 to a h22 (besides vtec)

right now i have a 92lude si, with an h23. is it worth 1500 to save up and drop in a h22? i dont feel like messing with turbo, that **** is to confusing for me. or should i just build up the h23, again going NA. i know that question was asked prolly one to many times, but other websites dont respond as much as you guys do. thanks,
Dan
ps. is a jdm h22 worth the extra ten pony's? or is it just to say i have a jdm engine?

if you can get the swap for 1500 then deffinately get it. You have 160 hp and the jdm has at least 190 or 200. so its deffinately worth the money, someone correct me if im wrong. im planning on swapping my h23 as soon as i finish school so ican smoke almost any street honda out there . I know what you think that it probably wont be much of a difference, but there is, i drove my friends 92si with the h22 swap and let me tell you, the h23 pulls hard but the h22 pull even harder and smooother. Also the h22 has a 7400 redline, whereas the h23 only goes up to 6400. Do it if you can get it for that cheap, also let me know where i cam get it for that cheap.Peace out and good luck

ok the jdm h22 is def better, has higher compression which means youll get more power from each mod..also the h22 will manhandle any bolt on h23...just a far supierior motor for bolt on purposes...defintaly a very nice upgrade, youll also get very good gas milage, on normal driving due to the low cam side of the vtec motor...ive also seen long blocks for 1200, butr youll need the h22 tranny if you want the full potential to be realized, also most jdm h22s are very low milage in the 30-50k range..peace

my jdm h22a is very powerful, i almost peed my pants at first. it pulls 10x harder than my h23 with the same mods. and oh god does it sound good, i will never hesitate to use an h22 in anything. i am now an h22 lover and a jdm junie. watch out, i might get a go-kart and put an h22a in it

most ppl dont realize one little detail...there are a lot of little things you have to buy for the swap. so make sure you go into this with an open mind and an open wallet. its a very easy swap (unfortunately, mine is taking me forever because of i got dicked over on my engine), but keep in mind there will be more things you have to buy. however, the person above was right, Si comes with 160 hp. your jdm will come with 190-200 depending on year.

also, i hear it all depends on what you want to do with the car. if you want to boost it, ive heard that staying with the h23 will cause less headaches down the road.

your not going to need alot of little things, most swaps come complete, not to mention all the h23 and h22 parts such as axles mounts sensors are all interchangable..so u can use whichever parts you need, the swap is so rediculously easy...later

You should change your water pump, clutch, and timimg belt while the motor is out of the car.

What else should you change??
Oh, I got quoted $1295 JUST FOR the labor to swap in the motor. OUCH!!!

yeah money is the name of the game in the engine swap world. sure you can get the job done with 2500 bux and a little luck, but you need to have a bunch of extra funding to make sure you can cover the cost of whatever may go wrong in the swap. (bad ecu's, axles, etc) just like Humtake said: have an open mind and an open wallet. good luck.

I am building up my h23, this is my theory, sure I can spend the money on a h22 swap, but I will still have a stock USED motor, I would rather spend the money rebuilding the motor I have as I know everything works find in the car now, I also came across a built head for the motor too. The end result will be much more power to the ground then a stock h22 plus the motor will be new and BOMB PROOF. plus i think it is a challange to go all motor non vtec
