Default IAC and Speed Sensor Solutions...

I stopped by a local import shop and he told me to do the following...i'm wondering if it makes any sense to you guys or if you've tried it before.

For my IAC valve: irratic idling was my problem. Starting up in the morning, or after its been sitting for awhile, it'll jump rpms 800-2000. Then not do it anymore after it warms up.

He said: Take off the TB and look for the control under the TB. There should be 2 screws to take off a cover? Then screw it plastic circle thing back in. He said it whinds out after awhile. That should take care of that problem

For the Speedometer: It works fine in the morning, but after i hit a bump or something, the speedo falls down to 0 and stops working. After driving awhile, it'll jump back up to speed and work fine for awhile, then do the same. Sometimes it'll jump to 100 mph and fluctuate.

He said: Take off the instrument cluster and get to the back of the cluster. Sprey the Cable with a lubricant (lithium grease or something) because the cable's getting rusty and not wanting to whind up. He said if it was a electronic sensor, my speedo wouldn't be working at all.

You guys think this may work? I wanna get some input before i go ahead and start tearing my shiet apart. Thanks!

Idle - there should be a specific procedure for adjusting your idle. He's simplifying it. Besides, I don't have a '90, so the details are probably different.

Newer Accords don't have a speedometer cable. It's electrically driven, with a speed-sensor on top of the transmission. Again, this depends on what year, I don't remember if '90 still had a cable. If so, he's probably right. You might want to use graphite powder instead of grease, tho...

Electronic sensors can have loose wires to make 'em do that, too.

Well i felt under the Speedo sensor and i felt a loose wire...something like a pulled wired that became unspread. Could this be the reason why its been skipping? If so does it have to be replaced? Or should i take it off and try to rewire it back?

Just take it apart & see what you find (I can't see it from here). If the plug is just bent or loose, then bend it back so its tight. If something's actually broken, then you gotta fix it.
