Default Does anyone have a CAD file or print for cutting the head to access the Cam gears?

My good friend works for TechNara "large Japanese machine tool and part company," and is looking for a CAD to do the cut on my ITR's head. He happens to also be my mechanic "aint life sweet?" Anyway if anyone has or knows of where to get a good print to do the cutting I would be most appreciative.

Thanks,

A.

PS oh if any techs want to repost this in the tech forum "not delete and send" I'd also appreciate it. I thought of posting there but I find that forum has less traffic and answers less frequently.

Bingo!

Before we put the Toda's on We gotta cut a little. I saw some nice cuts on a Civic Si in this months SS It had semicircle cuts to just expose the gears "very nice and kinda trick.".

Anyway yup thats what it's for and we want a nice clean cut for it.

Thanks,

A.

You mean cutting the valve cover, not the head.

97TypeR_9, I didn't want to come off rude...lol

but there isn't an actual way or template that I know of that you could use. If you have access to very accurate cutting machinery, i'd say take your time.

Sorry if I came off rude, didn't mean to.
You could always grab a Mugen valve cover and use that to make a template. The Mugen cover has those two half circles cut in it.

Yessir the Valve cover,

And No, I won't be doing it especially since I made a major *** out of myself with mis-naming the item I want to cut! My friend will be doing the cutting. He has lots of experience with it.

He is interested in a CAD file so we can get a nice clean exact cut for the cover.

I'll have to reach out to some shop friends for the Mugen scover but that will be highly unlikely.

So is it just done freehand then?

Oh and no offense taken, I mis-named the item in question so I will own up to the DumbAss award for today.

1GreyTeg, I think your friend is on to something if he can get the actual demensions of the valve cover. If he can actually get a machined programed to cut the valve cover cleanly and efficiently, I think he could market those things. For core charge of course.

I get 99% of the share since it was my idea.

I have an AutoCAD file that I used for my template. Drop me a line if you need it.

I just used a small jig saw, and a fine file, and an awl to mark it.

Mine looked just as good as the one's in the mags, and it took me about an hour total to take it off, cut it, file it, and re-install.

But just for ***** and grins, someone e-mail the ACad file to me 14 or 2000, doesn't matter ...

Check with RStoR. His dad used a drill press on his, I think. Two perfect semicircles. Looks very nice.
