Depends. I have people run 12.5 CR with 93 octane and no pinging. I also have a friend running 12:1 CR that would be running on 93 octane as well to prevent pinging.

I wouldn`t go any higher than 12:1 in a street car, but I`m a sissy.

I'm running 12.6 on 92

and my buddy is running a built GSR with B18C5 head(c-speed's setup with a new head) which is 12.5:1 on 92 octane. He gets 30 mpg hwy, more than 220 whp all motor, daily driver

im running 12:1 right now. however im running 12 degrees of timing to be safe on 91 octane. i might get a thicker head gasket to get around 11.5:1. that way i can run more timing

I think it depends on what kind of gas you have locally. We are lucky with 93 here in the Lou, but then again it gets really hot and humid here in the summer. A freind had an LS vtec with 12.5 and it would some times ping on 100+ high humidty days.

what tranny is he running? i will be at 12.1:1, tranny is b16a2(itr gearing) with 4.7fd, i am trying to decide whether or not i should swap out the fith gear for a gsr or even LS for highway driving. 30mpg is awesome.
