I'm trying to install a MSD rpm activated window switch for my n2o setup, i dont really know **** about ignitions except for retarding my timing, sparkplugs, wires, distrib cap, rotor, etc.

On the MSD instructions it says that one of the wires if used with a MSD Ignition connects to the Tach Output terminal. On inductive ignitions, connect it to the coil's negative terminal.

whats inductive ignition? does that mean stock or internal coil? so how and where do I hook this wire to the internal coil's negative terminal? I still have stock ignition on a 94 EX OBDI.

 

SOHC V-tec engines have the internal coil. THE SOHC non-vtec and v6 engines have the external. If that helps you.

The tachometer output should be a blue wire. There is only one coil wire in there, and it's black. That goes straight to the coil. There's a black and yellow wire that carries power, I dont think you need this one, it should be the black one. I responded to you on HS too.

 

yo for a racing tachometer which one get the output for the revs on a prelude connectors. there are sets of blue its two connectors is it the one on the left or is it the one on the right they are side by side its gotta be one of them.

 

which is the negative terminal? top or bottom screw?

 

Its the white with black stripe. Looks like the bottom terminal in your pic.

You can see the wire opposite the white wire comin in my pic from the bottom.

The white with black is the negative that fires all the plugs and the other is the 12v with ignition switched on (thats opposite the red wire in my pic).

i finally had a chance to take a look at my distributor and it didnt look like anything close to any of the pics i found online. i dont see no white w/ black stripe... i see a bunch of green, black w/ yellow, and blue wires.


i know #15 on the diagram is the coil and there are two terminal one with a black with yellow stripe and a green one. any idea?

 

It should be the black/yellow wire.
to make sure, use a multimeter and switch it to read impedence (ohms), measure the coil by hooking to the 2 terminals. if you get a negative (-) number, then your meter leads are backwards. if you get a positive (+) number, then you have found out what you need.
