Default what controls my cruise control??? ECU, or just vacuum?

I just put in a new speed sensor and now my cruise control doesn't work (1990 acccord LX)... it worked before the old sensor went bad, and I'm wondering if the new sensor could be defective, or if I should assume it is good since the speedometer works now? I checked the vaccum hoses on the cruise control and they seem to be ok, so I am mainly wondering if there is any way to diagnose the problem??? could it be the ECU or what else?
thanks

my problem exactly.... the lights on the dash come on when i hit the button but nothing happens. there is a vacuum diagram sticker on the underside of the hood that should help you trace the lines. there is also a cruise control fuse on the driver's side kick panel, mine wasn't blown... just no cruise control. poop...

If the cruise control was working, and the only thing you changed was the speed sensor, that should tell you were the problem is. Hook up a voltage meter to the speed sensor (orange wire for hot, black wire for negative) and spin the wheel, if it gives you varied readings then it should be okay, but if it just hangs its defective. If its okay then you can check the fuse like homeboy said, and check the brake switch. I've never heard of anything else going wrong with the cruise control. This is assuming you have all the hoses and cable linkages hooked up correctly. If its that important to you, then you should prolly just take it to the dealer.
