A slightly Prelude-related slugfest
Over on the K1 forum, http://www.attackforums.com/ As some of you may know, this is the slick looking kit car that uses the Prelude drivetrain. I pointed out several aspects of the car that potential owners need to be aware of, like getting it through smog, it's inverted shift pattern, and how it's not cool to market a kit before any car was built (their website still says it'll be done in 2001.)
What really got people pissed was when I noted how dirty the engine is on their one and only show car, which you can see here along with other pictures:

It was as if I'd run into Bagdad and said Allah is a jerk.
How hard would it be to wipe the dust off? Geez, when you go for your first Big Show, you don't wear a dirty shirt. First impressions count. Put your best foot forward. It's a sign of workmanship. Am I wrong here?

i completely agree with you..looks like it could use a Simple Green treatment yo. I think the people take a lot of pride in their work and the money that they have so vastly invested in these kit cars (or so it seems)..so that said, you could understand why they'd at least take some initial offense to it.

that's a funny and good way to put it.

Wow you would have thought you said That thing sucks! What asses built that piece of crap. All you said was it would have been easy to clean it off before they put it in the car. I agree with you. It takes away from the appearance of the car. Even if you only had 3 weeks to build the car they could have had some kid wash it down while they where building the rest of the car. Guess some people got their panties all in a bunch
If they really had Zero time before the show, okay. But WHILE they're at the show you'd think they could at least take 5 minutes and wipe it off!!! If nothing else it would show they care. As it is, IMHO, it gives the impression of shoddy(sp?) workmanship. If they don't care about a clean engine, I'd wonder what else they don't care about. But apparently that's just me, as all the guys on that forum just don't want to hear anything but "It is SO cool." It's like group hypnosis. Of course it's my own fault for going into an enthusiasts site and saying bad things. At least you guys here (away from the "Church of K1 (the builder)" seem to understand.
Whatever.
