Anyone have a comment: Dunlop SP Sport 9000's
I am just wondering what you guys think of the Dunlop SP Sport 9000 tires in 205/45/16. I looked into them and they are $120 each at tire rack. Anyone know of a place that has them cheaper?
I am comparing them to the Pirelli P7000 in 215/45/16 at $109 each.
My only other option right now is Yokohama Parada which are $95 each in the 205/45/16 size.
The car is my daily driver I haven't tracked it since it is a lease etc...
I have done a search etc and can't find any info on the Dunlop's here, that is the real reason for this post. I just can't spend over $120 each for tires right now is all. A few people I know run the Parada and are happy, looks like a good deal for the money although I have not seen and good review of there here.
Thanks for the read sorry for the long post...

I have the Pirelli's on my 2k ITR now and i like them, (even though they are wore Darth Vader). I think staying with stock diameter is smart. But if you decide to go with a 205-45-16 go with the Toyo T1S. They are awesome.
They are excellent tires. I had them in 195/55R15 on my Integra for a while.
Real nice, I'd consider getting them again. Awesome as far as handling, and great at the drag strip too.

Do know a place that has the Toyo T1S online? I stopped at a local place that told me they don't come in either size. Also are they much more than $120 a tire?
The SP9000 is a far superior tire than the others you listed. I am a fan of Yok AVS-i and the Sports, but dont feel the Parada is one of their best offerings. Thats a great price for a maximum performance tire.
I have SP9000's now and love them. I'm not fond at all of the Yokohama Parada, which is the tire I had before. Though the SP's are a little more expensive, they're a great tire for the money in my opinion
BTW, the size I'm running is 205/45/16.

I had the Sp9000's on my 98 Lude. Man they are great all around performance tires. Wet and dry, and I have not found another Z rated tire that is quiter than they were.
Isn't Pirelli P-zero assymetrico in the $11x neighborhood also? Why get SP9000 when you can get P-zero. I love p-zero if you couldn't tell by my every single tire post.
I've found that the SP9000 seems to wear its tread out in the middle of the tread faster than along the edges. Normally this is a sign of overinflation but the inflation seems about right, they just seem to wear this way.
I know jmb has found the same thing. Have others found that too?

Have not experienced that wear related problem, but I do check inflation weekly and tend to run a bit lower psi than recommended.
Ken, maybe we are seeing the middle of the tread wear because of the driving schools. I usually have my tires inflated to one or two PSI above the factory recommendation but I don't think that is high enough to justify what we are seeing. I am also surprised that others aren't seeing the same thing.
Answering the ITR145's question, the SP9000 is a good tire. You'll get surprising high mileage out of them too. In spite of autox, driving schools & some hard street driving, I have been able to get 30K miles (three summers) out of mine. I'll probably put on another 5-7K before trowing them away at the end of this summer. They are good in the rain too.
this is what the odd wear we are talking about looks like
