Default Which cams are plug and play?

If I ever decide to scrap my plans to autox in GS and keep my R more or less stock, I might go with a set of mild cams. However, when I say mild, I mean mild - Toda spec B's are not mild enough. I don't want something that will require major dyno tuning, fiddling with V-AFC, and frequent valve adjustment, because I spend my time in a few diff places (MA, DC, CT) and my R is my daily driver. So, the title says it all - what cams could I put in, worry-free, to make my slow R kick a little more ***? I am not expecting much more than a 10-15hp gain but if ***** cams give more than that, great. All opinions are welcome, I know who are the big dogs and who are not, so I can sift through it myself. Thanks guys.

I think all mods require dyno tuning to get the optimal result. Just factor an hour or two of dyno time and a couple of "tuning mods" into your budget.

Trust me, dyno time is one of the best "mods" that you can give you your car. I got 25hp more the last time I visited a dyno.

Spec A's (or substitute similar cams here), cam gears, and a VTEC controller plus two hours on a dyno.

A little dyno time might be a worthwhile investment if I can scare up someone smarter than me to tag along, but I don't want every weekend to be Dyno Day...me entiendes?

TypeR0207 you hit the nail right on the head. Cam gears would be included in this deal. But, which cams are similar to Spec A's - I know of JUN, Spoon, Skunk2, and Crower, but the nomenclature is what confuses me - like Toda Spec A = Spoon ____ = JUN Stage _____ = Crower ______ = Skunk2 ______?

yeah I guess I could do that couldn't I? But this is all hypothetical as of now and he is a busy guy. I am sure he'll weigh in on this though. BTW how far is Catonsville from DC? I am at GWU most of the year.

Catonsville is outside of Baltimore, that is home, and I work in Annapolis.

Toda Spec A = Jun Stage 2 = Skunk 2 = Crower 63401 = Spoon

There are variances in them, but these are basically in the same range as far a lift and duration goes (exception may be the Jun Stage 2's).

Ahh thank you precisely what I was looking for. You say the exception may be Jun II's - do you mean they are a little crazier than the others? II's are the middle level, are the real wussy ones I's or III's?

Jun Stage 3's = Toda Spec B's = Crower 63403's approximately

I say go for Spoon or Spec A cams. Both are very simlar. They both use CTR blanks and require little tuning compared to the bigger cams. They work quite well and are drop dead reliable (considering they are made form a Honda part).

V-AFC and adjustable fuel pressure always help.

Go with the Spec A cams. You'll love em.

Advance both cams, BTW. I've never seen them lose any power.

Roughly 2-3 hours on the Dyno, and yes I agree either Spoon or Toda Spec A, IMO I would go with the Spoon as it has a little more duration than the A's but the A's are also Cheaper.
Both are Drop in and have the ability to make even more power later on if you decide to drop in an ECU that has a raised rev limiter and valve springs.

Swing by sometime or give a call, I may be at Epping tonight also.
