3 seconds you crash your car; part 2. Knife in guts out ;)
This is a continuation of another thread. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=504215 After a couple of weeks with my car just sitting on my driveway i decided to take action. my friend told me that we could take out the engine without a hoist if we let the car rest on it then separate it from the rest of the car. Afterwards lifting the car over the engine. It works. So the next step. Removing everything else so that I can begin the repairing process. The frame was obliviously bent, and I know everyone’s going to say why don’t you have it straightened? Well before I crashed this car, it was going to be a race car. A straightened frame isn’t exactly what I had in mind for it though. So the next idea…. New frame. After removing everything from my engine compartment I was able to establish all the different points where it’s attached. The red lines indicate the cuts which I made sure to make 2” before a seam (I’ve never done anything like this, so I’m playing it safe). Unfortunately during the cutting process part of the blade on the angle grinder broke, I lost control of the angle grinder which then cut a 6” gash in my left hand and took a chunk of flesh out of my chin. So the next best thing until I can get a new blade, some insight into what I found when taking apart my car. Enjoy.
The red line is where i'm cutting, coming up from the bottom is where i got hit
.
The green is all the frame damage
Green = frame damage
red = cuts
Blue is something i'll get to in a sec, see if you can guess what it was?
yellow = Supplementary restraint system (airbags)
purple = ecu
blue = same as above
There it is still in the car. The blue areas in all of these is part of the air conditoning system. If you've removed your lines, condenser, compressor, and everything else you probably found that at some point your lines run into a point at the fire wall. This is the AC evaporator. This is what cools off the air inside your car if you have AC. To remove it is really pretty simple. First take out your glove compartment. Next you'll see three boxes. The middle one is the one you need, the one at the right is the blower. There are two screws holding it in one on top in the back, and the second is on the bottom in the back, some cars may have additonal screws. After removing the middle box, remove the AC evaporator from the housing the put everything back together. Feel free to tape up any holes.

I believe he said he was going to race it???

OK, lets see.... Price for used GSR... 6,000. Cost to fix my car around 3,000. Everyone talks about building a car from the ground up, this is exactly that. I don't care if the car has frame damage, I'm putting in a tube frame. Major weight reduction. Plus a new engine, everything will be beefed. For less than the cost of a stock GSR.
Keep at it.
You'll gain the knowledge and appreciation of doing it yourself, and when you're done the people saying "just get a new car" will be jocking the good work you did.
Good luck.

Dude, unless you have heaps of time on your hands and not much going on in your life, it might be better to save your lunch money and invest in a full car
I really don't want to go with RHD, it too much of a bitch to do. I'll be cutting off the front framing that you saw up to that line, I still have to study how to put a tube chassis on, and draw up plans on all the tubes. I have a lot of time since I only go to 2 classes at school, and I work within walking distance. So this will be my summer project. I'll post updates as the work progresses, right now I’m waiting on 23 cutting and grinding disks for my angle grinder.
