I am currently running the stock 14" Del Sol Si wheels and plan to stay with them. I'd like to get a bit more handling performance from the car with a new set of tires.. I'll be honest with you I hate the way it looks when the tires on the wheels are too fat. For some strange reason some companies stock 185/60/14's are much fatter and larger than other companies. ANyhow if anyone could reccomend a reasonable priced tire with great performance and that is not too fat please feel free to comment. I like the look of the lower profile tire on the 14" wheel.. My personal preference is:

EG = 15" wheel
EK = 16" wheel

I guess you wouldn't want Azenis then. 195/60-14s.

Dunlop SP8000s come in 195/55-14.

and you want a wide tire for a greater contact patch meaning better grip. The tires you mentioned just look fatter on a 14" wheel because they are high profile. What you should do, is get a bigger wheel and a lower profile tire, so the sidewall wont be as tall and look as fat to you.

 

i think he is talking about "fat" like the sidewall...

if thats the case, if you want a "thinner" tire, you need to get a larger diameter rim.

well basically its just I have seen several different 185/60/14 and some are fat and some are normal sized.. Depends on the company I guess .. I was just wondering if anyone new what tire fit in the "not fat" category, and yet still has performance..

sidewall, or width of the tread?

 

so to make it EASY for you, do you want rubber-band sidewall tires (not that your selection is very wide in the 14" category), or do you want WIDER tires?

i got some khumo 711 for like 50 bucks a tire, prety cheap and run pretty good

 

if you want better performance, i would get some 15inch SSR's or something with some potenzas. just my 2 cents. 15's rock

I'd go for the Azenis. Cheap, decent treadwear, they look cool, and I beleive thy come in 195/50. I know the fit my 14" HX rims.. almost bought some a month ago, but opted for new wheels instead.

 

No. They only come in 195/60-14.

 

ah, ya, 195/60... they have pretty rigid sidewalls though.. shouldn't really hinder the performance much. Unless it's the look of having more tire than rim that you don't want.
